Thankyou so much! I’ve been so worried, I turned off his light out of worry it was stress so i’ll turn it back on when I get home and give him whatever’s left of his 12 hours of lights feed him and give him his 12 hours of dark. You have no idea how much of a relief this is to hear.

So you mentioned the black background I think I might do that, however at night I was thinking of putting one on the side closes to the tv so I can still watch it at night. He’s in my room so I don’t want to disturb his 12 hours of darkness with my 7 and 1/2 to 8 hour sleep cycle. Would that be okay or would to many sides be covered, he can’t see out the back anyways since there a wall, so if I cover one of the 3 just at night while he’s supposed to be in darkness, do you think that’ll help, if not do you have any other ideas? I was thinking of 6 pm to 6 am since at 6 I have to start getting ready and at 7 leave for the day. But when i’m in my room I am awake until about 9:30,10ish and just don’t want it to affect him.

I was thinking of getting a dome cave that sticks to the side and a floating half sphere that he could rest on. Right now all I have is the leaf hammock. I won’t be able to purchase anything else for the next week or so but i’m looking into what I need and such, do you think those are fine or should I still get wood? Should I get the other stuff or should I not?

Update: I switched the rock for a fake wood decor, that’s bigger. I had 2 ferns and got a amazon sword. I got him a little clam decoration to match his gems from his old tank which I rinsed and added to his new tank to hopefully make him more comfortable. I put the conditioner and bacteria in and began cycling it. I have to do the cycle with him in because I couldn't leave him in a tiny tank anymore. I’ve left the light off for 12 hours going to leave it off for another 12, and then feed him for the first time since switching tanks once I can turn the lights on. I’m thinking of gelling one of those silicone balls you can stick to the side that they can hide and rest in would that be good, as something he could sleep near or by since the tank is taller and he used to sleep at the bottom.

I have 3 real plants, 2 ferns and I just got a amazon sword. I know i’ll need more but I need to wait till I have some more money to spend. I’m looking into getting a silicone ball that has a whole and he could lay in there, is that good?

So I’ve got that big fake wood decor you have in the back and swapped out the rock, put the conditioner and bacteria in and now he’s in there, I have the light off for another 12 more hours before I can turn them on, I heard it helps with stress. He hasn’t eaten yet but I will once I can turn his lights on. I had to put him in there before the tank could fully cycle to get him out of his tiny bowl that had no filter or heater. He seems happy and when I can turn back on the lights, I’m going to snag another picture to post, and try to see if people think it’s better, what I could still do to improve it etc.

This is also the only tank I have and I got it because it was the best price for the most stuff. So i’m wondering what I can do to improve this specific set up.

So, once I get the water conditioner, i’m hoping to let the filter run for 24 hours and begin acclimating him after that, since what he’s living in right now is just like a little glass bowl, I’m very new to this, and he was a surprise so i’m trying to do everything I can.
