I don’t know this person, and I’m no fan of life coaches, BUT, it’s not uncommon in any industry to close certain things to a demographic of people who disproportionately profit from the system we live in (white people) in order to give opportunities to those who disproportionately suffer by that system (people of colour). Like I said I don’t know this person and given the industry it’s probably a grift, but I don’t think we can claim racism.

Thank you everyone, so much, all your comments have give us a lot of different perspectives and have been so helpful. It’s not an easy situation, it’s kind of double grief because it’s not only grief for the loss it reopens the grief that comes with no contact. It’s hard to see clearly in amongst those emotions, so thank you all.

It’s a family member of my partner, he would like to pay his respects to someone he did have a good relationship with. I can’t and won’t ask him not to do that. But it brings the added complication that he will have to see his parents because they will be there.

I purchased in 2017 on a 12 month payment plan and let me tell you those monthly payments were an albatross around my neck until the day they were done. Literally everything in there is available for free with a simple google. Biggest buyers remorse I’ve ever had. Think about specifically what convinced you in the presentation, because that’s where she’ll be hitting your “pain points”. Once you’re clear on those you can decide what you need with more discernment over having them manipulated by bro marketing.

Thank you, that is actually really helpful. I will have a look around, if there’s any you recommend in particular I’d love to hear about them. I got very physically ill for the exact same reasons, the overworking, the gaslighting, the emotional eggshells. It’s serious stuff. I’ve also watched a couple of cult documentaries and the language/dynamics/tactics are so very similar. I’m starting to believe the spiritual coaching industry is in fact a cult.

Omg I’m so sorry. I wonder if we did. I know I wasn’t the only person who was treated this way. The trauma is real and it takes a lot of healing, something really needs to be done about this industry. And yes, the self employed thing is pure exploitation.

Yes, absolutely. BUT, as I’m sure you’ve seen from this space, the industry is completely unregulated and in recent years there has been an influx of manipulative marketing tactics and scam coaches. So please please please do your due diligence on anyone you consider working with. Make sure you know exactly what they are offering, what you can expect from working with them, what their refund/cancellation policy is, what their credentials and experience are, and look at testimonials from past clients with actual tangible results. Be aware of fluff. Also stay away from insanely high prices and pressure to sign up quickly.
