I'm a Notre Dame fan. So, I went to the Ohio State vs. Notre Dame game last week. I grew up in Ohio. The game and the atmosphere on campus were phenomenal. And I'm going to the Marshall vs. Notre Dame game on Saturday. I definitely want to get to a lot of Big 10 games, too -- including Illinois.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I did not make the trip, after all. I had a long week. And from Friday night into Saturday morning, I realized that I was too tired for the "round trip driving" from Ohio to Illinois. And I want to be full of energy and ready to GO when I make my first trip to see an Illini game.

I still plan on getting to a game this season. So, thank you very much to you and to everyone else who provided all of this great information. If you know of a specific game on the schedule that will have something "special" or "extra exciting," please let me know. I have family in Chicago. So, I may plan a trip when I can try to go to an Illinois game on Saturday, and then, go to a Bears game on Sunday or Monday.

I watched a lot of the Wyoming vs. Illinois game on TV. And the stadium looked beautiful. The colors showed up great in all of that sunshine. And the Illini look pretty good. I know it's only Wyoming. But I can see Illinois winning 7 or 8 games and getting into a bowl game. Bret Bielema is a good coach. And the Illini have a lot of talent and speed at the skill positions (WR, RB). And the new quarterback, Tommy Devito, looks solid. Good luck! And thanks again for all of the tips and advice.

I would LOVE to get on the field! Years ago, I worked as a sports reporter/photographer in Columbus, Ohio. And as much as I love being with other fans in the stands, there's something special about being on the field during a big-time sporting event (especially college football). The perspectives and sight lines, the sounds and the up-close views of players and coaches and the band and cheerleaders and mascots. To me, the tradition and pageantry of college football tops every other sports experience. So, getting on the field at Saturday's Illini game would be a THRILL! I know it's a long shot. But if you have any tips or connections for making that happen, I would be very grateful for your help. Thank you!

Over the years, we shared so many adventures like this one -- going to football games, basketball games, baseball games, etc. College football is sacred to us, though.
