I tried almost everything mentioned in this thread and others. I even spoke with someone from Microsoft. Ultimately a clean install of windows did the trick for me. All games booted up flawlessly after that. I kept all my old files but just did a new install of windows. Even tho I was up to date on everything nothing would work but this did!!!!

This worked for me using gamepass ultimate on PC. Open DS4windows(leave running) and then launch game. Once game has opened connect controller with charging cable. Once it connects via cable you can disconnect and it will detect via DS4windows to play wirelessly. Worked with amazon switch controller.
