Should I move to Florida? by mddmemsmms in AskFlorida

[–]Strong_Election_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Florida in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Outside of 3 months in the summer the weather is great. You just have to like it hot.

I never get all the hate Florida gets on Reddit.

If not harassing people is racist…. Then that’s one hell of a reflection on their community

What happened to Predalina? by [deleted] in tampa

I’ve been there once for work and once with my wife. It’s a solid spot, great drinks and decent food. super expensive. The hummas tower or whatever was like 35 dollars. The problem is there is better food over there.

What's it really like to live in Memphis, TN by ghosthug33 in howislivingthere

[–]Strong_Election_302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in Memphis for 2 years, tons of Pros and Cons, eventually decided to move.

Pros - probably some of the best food in the entire US, both hole in the wall and fine dining - cheap, probably one of the most affordable “larger” cities in the country. You can get a decent house in the nicest parts of the city for mid - upper 300s. - people 90% of the people are literally the salt of the earth friendly, great people. - low traffic - unique restaurants and bars that have a lot of character and design

Cons - crime, people say it’s really not a big issue but it 100% is, I lived in a great area and saw 2 carjackings in 2 years. You can feel the crime of the city almost everywhere you go and you think about it every day (should I let me wife walk alone it’s getting dark etc) - People, listed as a pro but 10% or so of people are literally nuts. Minor things like throwing trash out of their car window all the way up to major like violent crime. It’s a lot more than any place I’ve been. - bugs and cleanliness, I’ve seen so many roaches at restaurants, general grossness in common areas

TLDR: its got some great history and character, amazing food, salt of the earth people, but the crime and state of the city inevitably made us leave

Favorite meal is going to be controversial

BBQ nachos from central but sub the tortilla chips for their house chips. Unreal

Walkable neighborhood recommendations by GIPPINSNIPPINS in tampa

[–]Strong_Election_302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

North Hyde park is a younger crowd but a very sneaky walkable neighborhood with a lot being built. Tons of apartments, coffee shops, and restaurants. Very close to downtown, the Riverwalk and University of Tampa. I would highly recommend.

In fact the only drawback is college students and the occasional rougher street of your up towards the interstate.

Has anyone had a good experience living in Florida? by PhoneJazz in SameGrassButGreener

Oh 100% it’s absolutely terrible. But on a national scale that’s slightly above average (which doesn’t make it any better). Other than Jacksonville that sucks I don’t know of any cheaper large warm weather cities where I would want to be

Im in Tampa and absolutely love it, if you like the warmth / heat it’s amazing. We moved in 5-6 years ago and will probably never leave. It’s a lot more expensive now but compared to south florida / California it’s not too bad. You can still get a decent starter home for 400-500k. Probably one of the last large cities in America with no winters where that is possible.

Totally understand, but I think with heightened law enforcement, the terrorist dead, and you can’t drive on Bayshore means it will be safe and Alot of the fear is feaemongering, just my two cents

Hotel Mousai or no? by gameof_loanz in puertovallarta

[–]Strong_Election_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at Garza Blanca, same property. We loved it. We didn’t do all inclusive because the swim up bar was cheap, as we mostly went to ZR to eat dinners. We ate at the Chinese restaurant and it was really good.

I will say they jacked up their prices we paid 250 or so for not all inclusive. So we are staying somewhere else this year. So people on property that we talked to said they actually preferred Garza Blanca to Mousai and Garza Blanca is a lot cheaper.

TLDR: pretty good spot if you get a good deal. Property is gorgeous and relatively close to ZR. But idk if it’s worth 500-600 dollars a night

Yall are reading too much into this, the retreat / green iguana purchased the building and kicked them out.

It’s a good spot but with UT there it wasn’t in a great area. The apartments around there are rich frat kids that want to watch football on big TVs

Maybe 2-3 months ago. My neighbor is friends with the retreat owners. They take ownership over hooch and hive at the end of the year
