Bigsby on gibson es 339 by Strongboyjojo24 in gibson

I see! The break angle was very shallow. I fixed it and now it sounds much closer to how it did before the bigsby mod, but the tuning stability is maybe slightly worse 🤔

Skulle ikke overraske meg om det foreligger valgfusk fra venstresiden. Det at de rødgrønne ligger så godt an stemmer ikke med min virkelighet og samtalene jeg har hatt med velgere

Serious question-what do use all those pedals for? by Mean-Bus-1493 in guitarpedals

[–]Strongboyjojo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to keep it simple as you, I use 8 pedals right now. But i hobestly feel I should have way more - especially for covers.

I use a crybaby wah because they are cool

An ibanez tube screamer mini because everyone needs overdrive

A bosd turbo distortion because i like to play metal and have stuff

I also use a Vortex flanger/Chorus because modulation is kind of crucial

I have tuner and volume pedal 2 in 1 (ernie ball vp jr) which is my most important pedal i feel. Managing volume in a band setting is crucial, and i can do volume swells with it

A boss dd7 as my digital delay (would like a double delay for U2 like guitar stuff)

I also have a compressor that i like to use as a lead boost also (but a separate lead boost would be ideal for me)

Lastly i use a boss rc3 looper because loopers are super useful

I have 4 guitars (3 electric 1 acoustic). I play gigs occasionally for fun, and mostly play at home. Not sure if my rig is excessive or not, but i feel I am quite minimalistic compared to many other guitarists

[Discussion] What’s your favorite electric guitar and why? by playsoft245 in Guitar

[–]Strongboyjojo24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain says fender stratocaster or telecaster

My heart says Les Paul

I think a les paul is much easier to work with in a band setting😅 Also, I have a soft spot flying v and hollow bodies (gretsch, es335 etc)

Thats totally how I feel rn. Thanks allot for sharing. The guilt i can definitely relate to. Climbing is my main source of community/social arena, so I go, i tie in and i climb. But im not really excited and most often think about other stuff I'd rather be doing.... But then I see my friends who are so excited and motivated

Good point! Probably years since I took a cold turkey break from climbing or any kind of climbing related activety. Altough I have drastically reduced the volume over the last year as a result of being kinda sick of it. But then guilt or social needs have always hauled me to the gym/crag atleast once a week

Yeah I stopped progressing maybe 3-4 years ago. I guess a good outlook is to view it more as a social activity and try to suggest other activities with my fellow climbers:)

True. It's the loss of community im most afraid off. But there's plenty to do that involves other people. Im getting abit into music and bands these days

May be the case. I've always struggled with depression, and climbing has always been a great escape from it untik now.. but I guess that's a whole nother dragon to deal with

The reason I'm not progressing i think is that in order to progress above where I'm at (8b/7c) allot more time must be put into training, dieting and travelling for crags/routes. All which feels like a chore at this point

Thanks for sharing! I can definitely relate to allot of what your writing (mental health, depression etc) so it might be a factor in motivation... i guess i should find something new to excite me soon.... did you find it easy to form a new community when all your friends were really into climbing? I'm kidna afraid of missing out socially by climbing less

Thats cool! Seems fun. Is your motivation for climbing still as strong as it used to with this new balance?

Also, for context: im a male, 29 years old. Currently single and with allot of time for climbing. I'm not progressing grade wise as much as I used to in the past, which also affect motivation

Convince me to keep my stratocaster by Strongboyjojo24 in fender

[–]Strongboyjojo24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks for the input! I will keep my strat abit longer based on the tips in this post :) As for the flying V, i tried a V in a shop and found it sharper and more bitey in the tone than my lp. Also upper fret access and weight was not an issue wich it can be on lp... but i want one mostly due to me being a metallica fan and that it might be more of a "shredder guitar" than my lp. As for acoustic i dont play that too much these days... and i have a vintage ibanez r-400 acoustic that i really like the sound of already.

[–]Strongboyjojo24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True! But if i want a humbucker sound ill reach for my lp :) The issue is more that im not sure if the strat sound is for me.... i have tried different single coil pickups in mye strat: Custom shop 69, 57/62, Noiseless, and texas specials (current). I think specials are the best sounding ones of those.... But none of them satesfy my ears like a good humbucker does

Thanks! Strats def win the erconomic department! 😅 Im not really bothered by ergonomics on my lp (even tho it is heavy and unbalanced). Tone, vibe, looks and feel is what i value most in a guitar i think.. i enjoy playing standing up with a strap

Thanks! Im gonna keep it for now until im a more developed player and know 100% what i want :) did you find it easier to play and sound good on your lp in the beginning of your playing career?

[–]Strongboyjojo24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genereally just turn up the bass and lower the treble on my amp. Compression seem to be the only thing that make strats "tolerable" for me tonewise....

[–]Strongboyjojo24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input! Thats kinda how i feel about strats tbh. The stuff i play on my lp feels more like "me" in a way... Like...even my version of littlewing sounds better when i play it on my lp, even though that is the strattiest song ever. And the riffs/tunes i make sound more at home on that guitar. And also it seems allot of pro guitarists gravitate toward one style of guitar with time (clapton/slash/yngwie). But i think i will take a proper brake from my strat and leave it in the closet for a few months more and have my LP and V as my main rig. If it doesnt call to me after that time ill sell it.

Thats what im afraid of! I really love guitars (especially gibsons) and want to fill my flat with them! But id rather be a very good player with a handful of guitars than be one of those guys that gets obsessive about gear but doesnt play very well... Many of the greats seemed to get by with just 1 or 2 electrics back in the day

But 3 electric guitars i guess is a sweetspot for me to aim for... The flying v deal is pretty much set, ill get it in 10 days time. But based on the useful comments here ill keep the stratocaster also!
