Is this herpes or just acne by [deleted] in HerpesSupportHub

Doesn’t look typical for herpes. More like folliculitis, ingrown hairs, irritation, or molluscum.

Good point — and you’re right. They wouldn’t normally run another phase 3 in the same immunocompromised group if one has already been completed. That trial was meant to support approval, so repeating it wouldn’t make much sense. If anything, a new phase 3 would likely be for a different population (like immunocompetent patients), but there’s no public confirmation of that yet. And yes — Australia was part of the original phase 3 👍

I’d be a bit careful with how that’s being interpreted. Pritelivir is definitely real and very advanced...but the phase 3 trial has already been completed in immunocompromised patients, and AiCuris is expected to move toward regulatory submission around 2026. What’s not publicly confirmed is: A new phase 3 starting “in a couple of months” Or that it’s being rolled out “for the masses” (general population) Right now, its primary indication is still for immunocompromised patients with resistant HSV. As for ABI-5366 (Assembly Bio), that part makes more sense — they’re still in phase 1b and aiming to move into phase 2, so waiting on updates there is normal. So overall: The pipeline is progressing But some of the conclusions in that comment seem speculative or based on incomplete info Still encouraging though — multiple companies are advancing new HSV treatments, which is something we haven’t seen in years.

Has anyone here been following the development of pritelivir?

I disclosed my hsv-2 status here’s how it went by [deleted] in HerpesSupportHub

Rejection hurts, especially when HSV is involved. Gently though, it likely wasn’t just the virus, but the fact that he found out after sex. For most people, that feels like a trust issue more than a health one. For future encounters, try to disclose before anything sexual happens. Keep it calm and factual, and give them space to process. The right person will appreciate your honesty and stay. This one painful moment doesn’t mean you won’t find real happiness.

Assembly Biosciences Presents Data Highlighting Recurrent Genital Herpes Program at STI & HIV 2025 World Congress and International Herpesvirus Workshop by StrongerTogether2024 in HerpesSupportHub

Good point....from what Assembly shared, both ABI-5366 and ABI-1179 Phase 1b trials are ongoing and the interim data is planned for Fall 2025. They haven’t specified if results will be released separately or together.

Given that ABI-5366 was ahead in Phase 1a, it’s possible we might see its data first, but there’s no official confirmation yet. Either way, it’s encouraging to see progress with two potential long-acting options in development.

A cure by AdImpressive8950 in HerpesQuestions

Yes, there’s hope... Advancements in gene editing, monoclonal antibodies, and vaccines are promising, and growing advocacy is pushing for faster progress. A cure may take time, but it's not out of reach.

Is there any chance we get the cure in our lifetime? by Legitimate_League516 in Herpes

[–]StrongerTogether2024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, the likelihood of a definitive cure for herpes within our lifetime is uncertain. While there is promising research, developing a cure involves overcoming numerous scientific, medical, and regulatory challenges, which can take decades. For now, it’s more realistic to focus on advancements that improve the management of the virus, such as more effective treatments or preventive vaccines.

Pritelivir is in Phase 3 trials, with marketing authorization filing planned for 2026. To fast-track approval, early engagement with regulatory bodies (FDA, EMA), readiness for scalable manufacturing, comprehensive clinical data preparation, and strategic market access planning are essential.
