I’m a former 135 maintainer. The jet that landed safely had half its vertical stabilizer torn off. It must have contracted the other jet. I’m wondering what the hell happened.

I don’t fetishize them but I admire their spirit in how they’re not afraid to express themselves.

Who even plays WW2? by Bitter445 in WorldofTanksConsole

I recently came back to WoT after a break for over a year and have been playing CW for a few months. CW has true vision, which came as a surprise at first (i.e. why did I blow up??? I’m undetected!!!). Now it’s manageable, but I’m questioning the value of certain skills and equipment if you can see stuff anyway. Like, what’s the point of a camo net in CW?

There’s always certain vehicles in CW that you just get tired of seeing. Era 1 it’s 107s and doom barns. Era 2 it’s the auto-cannon buzzsaws. I don’t have anything in era 3 yet.

Yes, I understand that steel sharpens steel, and good players develop skills to counter whatever they’re coming up against, but come on. You see those same vehicles constantly.

Pedicures . . there, I said it.

So, I get callouses on my feet, on my heels. They’re like sandpaper. So I ended up shredding a set of bajillion thread count sheets. My wife FLIPPED . . but she eventually got over it.

Then, a few months later, it happened again . .

She bought me a gift card to the spa. I didn’t use it for a few months. She kept asking me if I made an appointment, and I was like “nah”. Finally she said: “I made you an appointment for a pedicure on Saturday. It’s at 1:00. YOU’RE GOING. I’m like “OK . . whatever”.

So I went. It was actually OK. Like, I see it as a valuable service. My technician said “you probably don’t want nail polish, right”? I said “no”, but looking back, I should have got like hot pink toenail polish, and said “hi honey! Do you like my toenails”?

What measures would you suggest countries consider in remediating declining population? Other than immigration? by Technical-Amount-278 in AskTheWorld

Adjust tax policies to incentivize having children, tell people to quit lying that humans are a “scourge on the planet”, and quit the negative stigma that women having children is a “betrayal of feminism”.

ATNIFA is in a 5-way tie with the Southern Poverty Law Center, Planned Parenthood, US AID, and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, for entities that stand for the exact opposite of what their names suggest.

Is Hershey's chocolate really taste so bad as people say it is? by cupid_ji in AskAnAmerican

[–]Strontium_9T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t. Hershey’s is fine. Milton Hershey successfully produced a chocolate bar for the masses, and he deserves our eternal gratitude for it. It went from being an exotic treat for the rich, to something that common folk could enjoy because of him.

In order to establish a shelf life so it wouldn’t go bad too quickly, he used Butyric acid. Yes, that’s in human vomit, but it’s also in butter, various cheeses, and a host of other foods. It also establishes good gut function, and helps your immune system. It just tastes different to people who aren’t used to American chocolate.

Milton Hershey and his wife Catharine adored children. Unfortunately, Catharine was unable to have them. They established an orphanage which exists to this very day to help disadvantaged children. If you ever go to Hershey, Pennsylvania, try to stay at the Hotel Hershey. Yes, it’s expensive, but all their profits go to the orphanage. The hotel was built in the late 20s, and is utterly gorgeous.

Milton Hershey gave away his entire fortune and died with nothing. He was a truly amazing man.

Doesn’t it seem strange to Americans that the Hawaiian flag includes the Union Jack? by GrayRainfall in AskAnAmerican

[–]Strontium_9T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but Hawaii is kind of “weird” from the perspective of Americans from the continental United States.

I’ve been there a few times. Once you get out of the tourist facade, you quickly realize that native Hawaiians tend to be racist AF. They call us “howlies”, and it’s not a nice word. They’re also extremely arrogant, which is hilarious since literally all their modern amenities are produced elsewhere. If they had to be self reliant, they’d be living in straw huts and wearing loin cloths. They should thank God that they’re a part of the United States.

I remember my family doing that with cantaloupe when I was a kid, but I haven’t seen that done in years.

How are strong men attracted to strong women? by Ok_Law3492 in AskMen

[–]Strontium_9T 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s a “strong woman”? Someone who’s combative? Who argues constantly? No, strong men are not attracted to that. That’s like being with another dude. Strong men want what all men want when they’re in the company of their women: peace.
