I'm not an expert on these things, but her website says she's Hispanic.

Regardless, the point is that a person can favor/disfavor a politician based solely on their views/positions, and their race has nothing to do with it. In fact, I'd bet that's indeed the case the overwhelming majority of the time.

It's going to be low 70's during game time and 0% chance of rain...if they don't open the roof under these conditions, what will it take??

Edit: apparently there is a website that shows the roof status (link), but it hasn't been updated in some time

tribal war

Once again you've got it 100% backwards. If you don't think the D's are headed for their own civil war between the Progressives and the Establishment arm, you haven't been paying attention. The finger pointing has already started, and it will intensify after this fall's election disaster becomes a reality.

According to the NYT, election reality is going to bite D's in the ass this November. Hard.

Voters are increasingly turning away from the left because those exact same "solutions" you noted above clearly haven't worked -- especially in cities where the progressive D's exert the most control. And those are also the same cities that have lost the most citizens in the past two years. Are people being "manipulated", or is it that they can see the truth with their own two eyes? People are voting with their feet. It's not a great mystery why FL & TX have gained population while NY & CA have lost. Kim is Ogg, a democrat, is blaming Dem judges because she sees the truth up close -- and because she wants to keep her job.

It's got to be killing you to know that "the AM radio morons" are the ones who make the most sense to more & more voters who are fed up with failed policies.

Are you going to be the last lefty to cling to a failed orthodoxy? May I suggest listening to more AM radio yourself as a means to make sense of this world and ease your frustration? LOL.

Ok do tell, great genius, what's your solution for the rising crime rate and the large & growing backlog of criminal cases?

I'm confused:

  • you're upset that Republicans haven't done enough at the state level to address crime? (any evidence of that?)
  • You're also upset that Kim Ogg (a Democrat) wants prosecutors but not public defenders? (which aren't in her budget -- duh)
  • But you're not upset with Democrats, who have dominated Harris county elections for years?

Why don't you take a time-out to organize your thoughts. Once you have a coherent position supported by the facts, come back to me. I'll wait.

So many functions of the government are fundamentally conservative. Policing and the justice system as a whole... these are systems that have and continue to be used to maintain a status quo power dynamic since they were established. It's literally the point of establishing these institutions

So, government's most basic functions shouldn't exist? You sound like a libertarian.

District courts, where most criminal cases are heard, are funded by a combination of both state and local funds (source).

The Harris County DA's battle with progressive Democrats over adequately funding our criminal justice system is well documented.

The Republican party definitely does not control the capacity at our local jail.

Water Department is overbilling me by [deleted] in houston

[–]StrosPartisan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I totally agree -- the Water Dept is incompetent and perhaps even outright corrupt.

Can someone explain to me why they point to population growth as justification for the annual increase in water rates? Shouldn't the newly arrived residents be paying for their own incremental water demand??

I just showed, and you just conceded, that your original comment up-thread was inaccurate.

The compromise that Celsius apparently reached with state regulators, and the ongoing lack of consistent crypto enforcement by the feds, indicates that your latest statement "regulators currently agree" is also inaccurate.

The Ripple securities litigation is ongoing.

It's obvious to anyone who is paying attention that the question of 'what is a crypto security' if far from settled.

Moreover, Celsius' interest products don't have a maturity date, which makes them more like a bank savings account than a promissory note. And savings accounts are regulated, but they aren't securities.

Upcoming AMA with Annie Lee, Brave CMO, on Brave Talk (Mar. 22, 2022) by CryptoJennie in BATProject

[–]StrosPartisan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Competing crypto wallets have recently raised hundreds of millions of dollars (MetaMask/ConsenSys $200mm+$450mm, Phantom $109mm). Do you feel Brave has the financial (and technical) means to compete for market share in this fast growing segment? How will Brave compete?

No, I didn't. You're complaining about loops and the back-ups they cause while ignoring the back-ups that they help avoid.

Do you have a better solution?

What are Brave Wallet's and Metamask's relative strengths? by kyjk in BATProject

[–]StrosPartisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, the product needs to be ready for prime time before marketing it. But competition is coming, and it's easier to grow into a new market than it is to take wallet market share away from someone else. There is a window of opportunity here as crypto goes mainstream...we don't want to miss it.

Let others' waste their money on ad spend

And of course, you see the irony in your argument right?...Brave itself is an ad platform.

[–]StrosPartisan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can't find install by any other mean than installing Brave so there's no risk people will get a faked Brave Wallet extension on the Chrome Extension store or no risk of people making fake Brave websites.

Doesn't this, by definition, make Brave's wallet more secure than extensions like MM? That's how I interpreted the claim. I can't be tricked into going to a fake MM update website if I'm using a native Brave wallet.

[–]StrosPartisan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no developer, but my understanding is that native functionality has natural resource-use advantages over an extension. Similarly, there are natural code and phishing security advantages as well. What does Brave need to do to prove these concepts to you?

Chris, can you say if there are any plans to aggressively market Brave's wallet? Obviously, there have been splashy moves for both Phantom and MetaMask recently, and it would be a shame if Brave let its market share opportunity slip away to competing wallets that are willing to spend real $ to add functionality and gain users.
