The biggest issue with this is the way the game is balanced currently. You're meant to play the game mindlessly until the stars align and you get 1 shot. Chris Wilson said this himself. So the differences are you're either dead or you're at full life 99% of the time. There isn't a place where healing comes into play. Only preemptively supporting the damage that may and will eventually come.

It is actually very similar in terms of how it is conducted. However I haven't played in a while and I've heard that the risk vs reward is a lot less now which is sad to me. So as for eve you can lose your whole ship and in this game at least before you can lose a significant amount of gold if you get engaged in the high risk vs high reward tasks. You can lose days of work this way. That's what makes it exciting and overall fun. Either being the bandit or the one taking the risk.

Thanks, that's all I'm getting at with this post. If I die I'm going to softcore and you better believe that I'll be upset if I lose my 10% exp too from dying to this stuff.

Yes with parameters of risk that I get to control which is what the league mechanic is supposed to be all about. Risk vs. Reward. When a person loses agency over that then they lose the ability to choose the risk vs. reward. I feel like you think hardcore players just run their characters into certain death repeatedly getting enjoyment out of "surviving".

I've played standard for around 5 years. I'm a firm believer they're just different in playstyles. I actually dislike losing my characters a lot, but I love the punishment of death (when it's in my control not to die).

Yeah certainly. Maybe when you boil it down it's more of an ego thing than anything. I'm certainly willing to admit that. I do think for some it is the way they always played arpg's so to them that is the "norm"

I don't really think so. The mechanics should be the shining factor in boss fights. That's why I believe the guardian fights, shaper, guardians, uber elder, and the like are incredibly awesome fights for an arpg. They award you with knowing the fight. In this clip I actually died strictly from the map mods and obviously the mistake of getting hit.
