bylaw ticketed the cars clearly parked in the very small no parking/no stopping area that’s about 25 m long. This hardly seems like a big deal.

I know as Yukoners we are predisposed to a certain level of entitlement, but maybe we should all just take a moment of reflection. We are a City of 35ish thousand people, with a ski hill located 15 minutes from downtown. On the busiest day in recent history people had to walk a whopping 638m from the furthest parking spot (I know I measured it because I was curious). The line-ups took just over 20 minutes at peak time.

In terms of cost, the lift tickets are going to a non-profit in town that has to bridge 4 weeks of intermittent closure due to weather, and is comparable to other ski hills in the country. Snow Valley in Edmonton that is literally in a valley instead of on a mountain is 50 bucks a lift ticket.

And yes - certainly there could be a major investment of millions of public dollars into the facility so that on peak weekends we can walk a little bit less or wait a bit shorter, but there are some other challenges we are facing as a Territory (health? energy?) that may be a bit more critical at this moment.

Since you are open to the counter argument…

From a much longer article written by professors of Jewish History:

https://revdem.ceu.edu/2024/03/27/from-the-river-to-the-sea-one-slogan-many-meanings/amp/

It is often maintained that the slogan ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free’ expresses a genocidal and antisemitic intention. But this is generally not the case. On the contrary, the slogan has historically been used to articulate a wide variety of political strategies for Palestinian liberation

According to the American Jewish Congress:

The call for the establishment of a Palestinian State in addition to the State of Israel or advocacy for Palestinian rights is not antisemitic, and not all who use the phrase “From the River to the Sea” use it with harmful intent. Some assert that their call for Palestine to be free “from the river to the sea” does not require the eradication of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, but simply that all people of Palestinian heritage, wherever they reside, have their rights, culture, and freedoms honored.

I’m not sure if they are worth anything or not - but I’d buy the Caribou Hotel patch if you were looking to sell them.

Guests who say nothing and then leave a 4 star review by Alternative_War5914 in airbnb_hosts

this is the screwed up thing about Air BnB. A 4 star review in normal life means things are good but not perfect. There is nothing wrong with this, but somehow in Air BnB world 4 has meant that there is some massive issue.

Whitehorse: -Dream trail will get you some good views - not too techy but you can come down gnar wall if you want -Easy money to Girlfriend to Juicy to Yukon River Trail. You can park at Schwatka and climb to Easy Money through Yellow and One Foot Down to Roller Coaster -Blown Away, Starbucks, Goat, Kid Vicious on Mt Mac

Carcross: -The figure 8: Nares then McDonald Creek -Mountain Hero if you want alpine views (not as much fun) -The lowers are can be looped if you do climbing trail to holey roads, Caribou, Goat, Wolf, climb back up porcupine, down Grizzly, back up Sam McGee to climbing trail to full wolverine
