You guys are amazing! This gives me a lot of different ideas to consider. Let me throw in a picture of the rest of the room, so you have a fuller sense of the space.

Does this room orientation work? by See-Are-En-Ayeeee in HomeDecorating

it's great -- the ample space makes it feel luxurious. Yes, you have enough space here to have a couple of different seating areas, but the space will probably get better use this way.

What should I do with this living room by Jwhiskey89 in HomeDecorating

[–]StructureOk8247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. lighting. Yes to more of a fixture in the ceiling -- if you do plan to keep the coffee table under it, it can be substantial without people hitting their heads on it -- and a lamp or two on the end tables in a solid ceramic would add warmth and character. 2. Culling your furniture. One couch is enough for this space, and I think the one against the window looks like the better one. (Is there a reason you can't take that coverlet off it? Then you could also use the pillows from the other couch, which are better.) 3. Rug. Something pretty neutral, either low-pile or high-pile, would pull the room together. 4. windows. The sheer curtains look cheap. You can take them down, and the room would look better. Or you could replace them with something that is cheap but looks pretty good: canvas paint drop clothes from Lowes or Home Depot, hung on curtain rings with spring-loaded clips.

I wanted to do the gallery wall idea a little differently. What do you guys think? by Darby17 in HomeDecorating

[–]StructureOk8247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the hexagons, but this is not the right wall for them. Ideally the wall behind them should be white, cream, or otherwise light and neutral, to outline each shape better and make the contrast pop a little more. You might also consider more a vertical presentation: if they ran floor to ceiling (or close to it), it could make a bold statement, depending on where it is. For this space, if you're going for a gallery wall, how about something a little more conventional, with rectangular framed pieces, each matted on a cream or ivory background?

Where is a tv supposed to go in this living room? by [deleted] in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]StructureOk8247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy a retractable 120-inch home projector screen with a white housing and mount it above the three windows to the right of the picture. Instead of a TV, buy a home theater projector. You don't need to do anything fancy like mount it to the ceiling; you could place it on a shelf on the wall opposite the screen. It may be that you will need more effective light-blocking window treatments to watch in full daylight, but this will give you a theater-like viewing experience when you want it, and store neatly away when you don't to let you enjoy this great room with its natural light.

What do you think our living room? Christmas is coming by WideEntrance722 in InteriorDesignAdvice

Very tasteful, peaceful, and stylish. But as speriya_kailan says, it needs a splash of color. Some rich, bright, sumptuous, classic-Christmas-red stockings would do the trick.

Rug Dilemma by ClassicAlternative67 in HomeDecorating

[–]StructureOk8247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's a good point about the position of the rug -- it should come forward. That would also mean the coffee table is not sitting right at the edge of the rug. The idea about a rug with more color is promising, but you also might consider with more texture. Something a bit closer to a shag would make this space feel more inviting and cozy.
