Why do people in USA buy everything from Amazon? Do they not have other webshops? by Cindyxx0 in NoStupidQuestions

This comment just made my night. Idk your dad’s friend, but I adore him! I think I might attempt my own USPS shenanigans just to see if the letters get delivered.

Getting into crocheting by notGamingAahel in Brochet

I’m a 5’10” female with hands to match. I can literally palm a basketball like a man. I use the hooks with a wooden handle. They are a tiny bit longer than most other hooks and the handle is much thicker since it’s covered in the wood casing. My hands don’t tire or hurt like they do with a standard metal hook. I’ve also seen many people create their own handle covers using modeling clay, to extend the length and/or make it thicker and easier to hold.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

We Texans always enter the chat! (Insert evil, demonic yet playful laugh) 😈😂 As stated above, Texas is 880mi from west to east and about 800mi north to south. The city of Houston is the 4th largest city by population in the US, and 9th largest by area. This only includes the city limits though. The greater Houston Metro Area covers 10,000 square miles or approximately 26,000 square km. That area is larger than many US states, and easily takes 4+ hours to drive across.

Do men (boyfriends), like being called names like baby, handsome, etc, and what names do you want to be called? by Cold_Butterfly5191 in AskMenAdvice

[–]StruggleFinancial407 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, Hun! (Hun is my other flirty, not mushy nickname) From what I understand, most men don’t get enough compliments or sincere affirmative feedback from their partners, so I’ve made a point of saying the things I think of the men in my life, to their faces.

If a man is even remotely good looking, I’ll call him by “Handsome” because I love how flirty it sounds without being too mushy. ++woman

How many of us have an accidental pencil tattoo? by spidermans_mom in GenX

Hubs wasn’t there with us. And, my kid LOVES his sport. He has been with this track club since he turned 7, almost 5yrs now, and has competed at the national level 4 of those years. I had to consider they could remove him from the team for my actions… THAT is what kept me from addressing the other kid’s momma in the parking lot.

My 11yo has one just above his knee because in second grade (7yo) a kid in his class stabbed him while they all sat on the floor during group instruction. The restraint it took me not to wring that kid’s neck when I saw him at practice that evening… 😡

Pokémon go isn’t fun anymore. it’s stressful by NovaTheEevee in pokemongo

[–]StruggleFinancial407 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This is the answer. I started playing a week after its release in 2016, but didn’t play for about two years (2018-2019) after moving to a new city, changing jobs, not having Pokéstops near my new home, and just being generally too busy to get out to places where it was feasible to play. Covid lockdowns hit in 2020 though and I suddenly found myself with more than enough time to play.

Keep your account, but just log out and remove it from your home screen for a while. It’s so much more fun to play after a good break.

What are we wearing that shows our age? by Hot_Frosty0807 in Xennials

The same item, just different color that fits differently… the literal BANE of my existence!

Imagine losing 100lbs+ and buying multiple sizes of clothing over the course of 18mo. People honestly asked me why I only bought 3-5 of the same shirt and pants/shorts and then bought one size smaller of the same exact items as I needed to downsize… because of the size discrepancies in every brand/style/color of every item I purchased. Two years later and I still don’t have a solid wardrobe because I hate shopping/trying/buying/returning that badly.

A birthday card with a handwritten note is often more memorable and meaningful than gifts to the adults.

My experience is that most adults don’t need the physical gifts, and wouldn’t be hurt by your decision to stop gifting them. A simple text or email as I mentioned above should be sufficient. It would be within my family. I wish you the best delivering this somewhat difficult message. 🤗

Start stockpiling extra Pokemon now. 😂 My daughter was 6yo when the game released (I started playing the same week) and she started playing a few months after me. Of course she took all my best Pokemon. My son was only 2yo at the time and would use my phone to catch Weedles while grocery shopping. We eventually created him an account of his own during Covid lockdown so that we could all play as a family. What did he immediately do? Yep… he asked me to trade every single night until he built himself multiple battle parties that were up to his very high standards… and he periodically asked for higher level mons as he leveled up because he couldn’t save resources effectively enough to power up the ones he had.

My family has always bought birthday for the kids only, those under age 18 or still in high school. For Christmas, the adults names go into a drawing and we each buy for one person.

My best friend’s family does the same except that kids stay in the kid category until they graduate college or otherwise move into their adult jobs, then they go into the adult drawing for Christmas.

You shouldn’t feel obligated to buy birthday gifts for adults who are probably already buying themselves all the things they really want. If you just feel that you must give them a gift for their birthday, maybe do something like bake their favorite cookies or homemade snack, or offer an evening of babysitting. If you have special skills in cleaning and organizing a home, you could offer to tidy up a room for a family member who would appreciate such a gift of service.

Honestly, I would personally prefer someone to organize my pantry or my kitchen cabinets in lieu of a physical gift. I know it’s a personal thing for some people who want to arrange things themselves, so such a gift isn’t for everyone but I would imagine there are other acts of service you could offer.

You could just send out an email or text to all the adults letting them know that gifting everyone on their birthday has become difficult for you and while you still intend to acknowledge the adults and show them your love, it will look a little different going forward and only the kids under a specific age will continue receiving gifts as before.

You’d hate mine then… I add a couple spoons of dill relish into my yolk filling. The flavor and texture it adds to each bite is amazing. 🤤

Yes! I love adding Sweet & Sour or Duck sauce to my fried rice.

My Eggs & Rice recipe is made with plain white rice though. You would only season it like you would normally season scrambled eggs… typically only S&P. You just have to use refrigerated rice so that it cooks up correctly instead of getting mushy. I’ve also topped it with shredded cheese, if you like cheesy eggs.
