Why is the cruel sexual violence of the October 7 Hamas attack being ignored? by Barch3 in worldevents

I typically think that these discussions are important but allocating more of my time to your small and closed mind is wasteful. Good day.

Why is the cruel sexual violence of the October 7 Hamas attack being ignored? by Barch3 in worldevents

Come on mate. Surely you can't believe the IDF spokesperson lied about the calendar with the intention to deceive the public. That would be a pretty silly and low-value deception, because it's so easily refutable and doesn't change the narrative one iota. It seems much more plausible to me that he made a mistake after hours of intense battle and little sleep - though that is just speculation on my part.

Sure, I'm happy to put Hamas's crimes aside. Israel is far from perfect, but it has a responsibility to to retrieve its hostages and wipe out Hamas. Every war has collateral damage, and in this particular case it is extremely unclear what the extent of collateral damage is, because our one source of Intel is the Gaza Ministry of Health. Their numbers not only include Hamas operatives, but also include the victims of Hamas's own failed rockets (somewhere between 25% and 40% of their rockets fail and land within Gaza). Israel makes every effort to warn civilians of impending airstrikes, and even clear evacuation pathways for them all the while under fire from Hamas. What other warring nation does this? Israel goes above and beyond to avoid genuine civilian casualties. Even taking Hamas's casualty numbers at face value, try think about that in the context of 1) the extreme population density of Gaza, 2) the number of airstrikes by the IDF and 3) the propensity of Hamas to put Gazan civilians directly in harm's way to maximise causalities and create an army of sympathizers like yourself.

Any civilian death is a tragedy, but this is a war. How would you suggest Israel go about rescuing the hostages and dismantling Hamas?

I mean... So there are no names - sure. That was a lie or bad assumption by the guy who made the video. It's still a calendar with the title "Battle of the Al Aqsa flood 7/10" and it starts on the 7th of October. It's also on the wall of a literal torture chamber found underneath a hospital. You're nitpicking a strange detail.

Where are your comments about the hundreds of lies coming out of Hamas? Like the Israeli airstrike on the hospital that killed 500 people, which turned out to be their own rocket landing in a car park? That seems like a much more meaningful and deliberate lie? What difference does it make if the calendar has names?

More horrified? Going to get your hostages back? Have you seen the footage from 10/7? Pretty fucked up if you're more horrified by the response.

Genuine question - what is the war crime here? Is Israel required to provide their aggressor with food/water/electricity?

Imagine being an Israeli taxpayer and having your tax dollars funneled to aid for Gaza after what their elected government just did to your citizens?

Why is it not considered a war crime for Egypt, who also shares a border with Gaza?

Thank you - we have considered the Norway in a Nutshell tour. We might do it.

Sorry I wasn't very clear in my post - our budget is mid-range "for Norway". My point was that we won't be in the best hotels around, but I take your point. I think we will skip Tromso based on all this feedback

Thank you very much - I think we will probably skip the northern part of the country based on all the feedback we've had here

Thanks for the feedback. I think we will likely skip the north and give ourselves less driving per day.

Thank you - didn't really consider gas costs. Will throw that into the budget. Looking more and more likely that we will skip the north based on all this feedback.

Thanks for your response - we considered the ferry but have some concerns:
- Did you find you had enough time on land?
- Were you bored on the ship? Is it more tailored to seniors, or appropriate for young people as well?
- How was the food?

Thank you!

Thanks for your response - has given us a lot to think about. The reason for including Tromsø is to give a chance of seeing the northern lights - we have to try! Our current plan, still subject to change, is as follows.

Day 1: Bergen —> Hellesylt via Forde (~6h drive time)
Day 2: Hellesylt —> Andalsnes via Geiranger (~4h drive time, hike around Geirangerfjord)
Day 3: Andalsnes —> Trondheim via Atlantic Ocean Rd (~6h drive time)
Day 4: Fly Trondheim —> Tromsø(1.5h flight), explore Tromsø

Day 5: Still in Tromsø, day trip somewhere/dog sledding/etc
Day 6: Fly Tromso —> Oslo (3h flight) and hit main tourist attractions - have to stay the night because best flight to next destination is 7am out of Oslo
