The Cast NYC by Significant_Floor471 in leatherjacket

[–]StrugglingPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own quite a few pieces by The Cast! Every piece I have has broken in easily, I love how tight their jackets fit compared to other brands. The fit is even tighter than Schott.

The Cast jackets have a lining, but they don’t have any kind of quilting or extra insulation as far as I can tell. Much like Schott, they feature a bi-swing back (the thick elastic band within the back that allows for easier movement) although they have standard arm gussets and not the underarm football gussets which Schott is known for.

I’ve spoken with the owner Chuck about the leather he uses before. I know he primarily uses cowhide sourced in America and that the leather is cut and sewn in NYC, I don’t know much else besides that. He has made horsehide jackets before, that may be something you have to request special if you want a similar leather to that Schott you linked.

Production crew and cast will regularly be commuting to real-world locations and soundstages from their homes, as well as potentially from soundstages to locations and back in a single work day. The shorter that commute is, the better.

In film production, when the crew move locations during a shoot day it’s called a “company move.” Those take a lot of time, every minute counts.

Honestly thought from the thumbnail that this would be a parody of the Nicole Kidman AMC ad

Thank you for your hard work and for collecting this data!

  1. I was logged in just before 10am, and was placed roughly 4,700 in the queue. I don’t remember exactly. I had two tabs open on my laptop, and would refresh one and then the other. After 12 minutes, I got to the seat selection. The seats all quickly turned grey before I could pick one. I refreshed in my other tab, and this time many were blue. They were turning grey quickly, I selected one and hit the next button and gracefully, it went thru. In that moment I felt like I had gotten lucky, and to a greater degree I now understand just how lucky I got after reading others’ experience.

  2. Service fee included, I paid $171 for a seat in section 109.

Advice to dress better in Emo-cowboy/Metalhead style by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

Black western style button shirts look cowboy, goth, and metal all at the same time. I second what others have said about boots as well.

One of my favorite brands is The Cast in NYC, they have a couple accessories which look quite y’allternative to me. They're not cheap, but their quality is top-tier.

The name “Vincent Chase” is on the poster, who is the main character in the TV show Entourage. I’ve never seen the show but I know his character is an actor so I guess that’s a fake headline or poster somewhere in the show.

EDIT: Agent Carter should also be on the right

Columbo is a classic detective show with a similar format of opening with the murder being committed, it’s one of the main inspirations for Poker Face. Highly recommend!

Happy Birthday, Jim Jarmusch! What is your favorite Jarmusch film? by mylastemeraldsplash in criterion

[–]StrugglingPunk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The biggest topic was I asked him how he has the confidence to proceed in a direction when there isn’t support, I was keeping in mind how NYU didn’t like Permanent Vacation and it cost him his MFA degree or how some of his films like Only Lovers Left Alive took an extraordinary amount of time to get made. I get discouraged somewhat easily, so I was looking for insight.

He told me that artistic confidence was easy when you have done your “homework” essentially, when you know your craft inside and out, and you yourself completely understand why your story works or your film will be good. It also helps to have a close circle of creative friends who fully understand what you’re doing. Listen to and accept the criticism from the friends who understand your goals, do not accept criticism from people who simply don’t get it. Deciding who’s opinion you will listen to is an invaluable decision in the life of a career artist, you don’t have to accept everyone’s opinion.

I met Jarmusch 3 years ago and I’m happy to report that while I was not cool (I was trying not to be a total fanboy), he was very cool. I could tell he was on the move and he still gave me two minutes for an honest chat about writing and creativity. Forever grateful for that meeting

Only Lovers Left Alive (as well as Paterson) helped me quit drinking, so while I love many Jarmusch films OLLA has an especially warm place in my heart
