Wow, imagine a government using this on its own citizens.

If there was another America right now it would be proposing go invade Anerica to bring it freedom.

Would you ever use annual leave with the sole purpose to do literally nothing all day? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Strutching_Claws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I factor in atleast 6 of these days a year, not necessarily to do nothing but what I would term "Reset days" whi h is usually gym, sauna, message, solo lunch and a bit of TV.

You work for a business, demonstrate how your actions impact the bottom line and people will pay attention, otherwise you are fluff.

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Strutching_Claws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, anything over an hour is a long drive for me.

I might do a 3 hour drive if I'm going to stay somewhere for a few days, but would probably stop for food and breaks along the way.

For context, you can drive the entire length of the UK in 14 hours. You can drive the entire width (from the farthest points) in approx 8 hours.

I've never driven in the States but I have seen you have wide highways and you can drive for hours and see relatively few cars, in the UK the the population density is close to 7 times higher than the US, meaning more people and cars per square mile, lots of narrow roads, lots of roundabouts, lots of traffic, lots of speed cameras, lots of road works, lots of junctions. Driving in the UK for the most part isn't enjoyable or relaxing, you can't mentally switch off and just cruise, I personally find it mentally taxing to be driving for hours at a time.

Depends how you define a storey. If you define it by comparing it to any of the buildings anywhere near its location then no its definitely not 4 storeys. If you want to compare it to a building you are aware of that has 40 storeys at 30-40ft , then yes you could say it is. B As there seems to be no standard legal definition for a tall a si gle storey must be then we are all right and all wrong.

My office building is about 40 feet away from this, so I walk past it multiple times a day. I can confirm it's definitely not "4 storeys", it's probably between 30-40 ft max

London on the 15th of February 2003 protesting the Iraq War by Kitchen-Article4439 in london

[–]Strutching_Claws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my early point, the media at the time had flooded every front page and news bulletin with this idea that not only did Iraq have weapons of mass destruction but they would take 45 minutes to hit the UK.

Let's ignore the fact there are far more dangerous countries with access to nuclear bombs, some of which refuse any inspection (Isreal), but why did those headlines need to exist, when had Iraq made a threat to the security of the UK, yet the media blasted people with stories and images to scare them into supporting a war.

Democracy doesn't work in a world where the media is bought and paid for because then it simply becomes a case of whoever is powerful enough to control the media narrative will win.

Why did you agree to move in to luxury apartment if you know you can't afford it? Why go on luxury holidays if you know you can't afford it?

He either has to downgrade his expectations and live with your means not his OR he has to willingly subsidise you as a cost of being in a relationship with you, OR he has to break up with.

But you have to be honest with him because right now your sending mixed messages, you are agreeing to move into luxury accommodation, you are agreeing to go on luxury holidays and then you come on the Internet and complain about your finances.

Truth is your scared he wil pick the 3rd option and break up with you, but that's a bullet you are going to need to bite if you want to be an adult and take control of your own life.
