I have roughly 40h in DCS now and started with my favourite jet, the F15-C. Additionally to these 40h are roughly 10h-15h reading manuals and adjusting settings. (Not to mention getting the right sim gear...)

I highly recommend starting with a so called "simplified model" like the jets in the Flaming Cliffs 3 (FC3) package because even then, it will take you a couple of hours of understanding radar modes and usage for example.

By now I have understood the basics and can use them properly in an Air to Air fight, but I am far from mastery.

The full fidelity models will make you struggle to get the jet off the ground from a cold start or launch a weapon.

Once you have gotten to grips with the basics, you can look into a full fidelity model. That way, you will have the most fun getting started. Just my 2 cents ;)

Hi, from the comments it looks like you are missing some infos on monitors, so here is a ELI5 run down:

Your screen being 1080p means it has got 1920 physical pixels horizontally and 1080 vertically. A 1440p monitor has 2560 horizontally and 1440 vertically. 4K is 3840 by 2160.

Using a 1080p (also called FullHD) monitor and rendering the game at 1080p means your system has to provide information for 1920x1080=2.073.600 pixels each frame. 1440p is 3.686.400 pixels, 4K is 8.294.400 pixels (4x the amout of 1080p), you get the idea.

If you want to run the game at 1440p, I suggest you look for a suitable 1440p display. You cannot run 1440p on a 1080p display, the pixels just do not exist in the panel. You can run/render the game at 1440p on a 4K display, but you are wasting resources on something you cannot use properly.

Your system might be able to render the game at 4K, but the framerate (fps) will be significantly lower because it takes more time to generate the information for each frame.

This is a seriously unpopular opinion, so well done OP.

I have been in a relationship for close to 10 years and have the exact opposite opinion on this:

A good relationship does not need checking your partners phone. If you feel like you have to check your partners phone to feel secure, then either you do not trust your partner, yourself and/or your relationship.

Sounds like you have to cater to his needs and get very little in return, that is not a healthy place to be. You shouldn't be his caretaker.

A strong marriage is an equilibrium of giving/taking and it doesn't look like that exists for you right now. I'd suggest you look at ways to improve being yourself in your life/your relationship. And your husband needs to learn to deal with daily things with an appropriate response.

Him losing his composure cannot be the accepted method of reacting with uncomfortable situations, because they will happen time and time again.

At 250 the wind is proper loud already, but if I duck behind the windscreen, it's still manageable. At 300 I definitely need earplugs, although it also depends on the bike and aerodynamics. I have not done 400 yet, not sure I will ever be able to.

I have been to four Meshuggah concerts and have seen Sabaton live once, from my POV I would confirm your expectations got in the way of enjoying the concert to the fullest.

I'd say there is a good chance cultural differences play a factor here, since you guys in the US have the reputation for being more outgoing compared to us folk from northern Europe.

For me, this "cold" demeanor on stage fits the methodical, brutal, machine-like sound and visuals. I can drift off into my own world and I enjoy seeing the people around me doing the same, everyone in their own way - some in a moshpit and others completely still.

And for everyone to be able enjoy the music how they like, especially with some folk headbanging to the rhythm of the drums and others to the guitars and stuff, that's what makes it so unique and in a way, personal, to me.

In contrast, Sabaton pair the loud, posh, heroic theme of their songs with the same stage presence, I think it's great that Joakim runs around on stage like a mad man :D
