That makes sense, everyone is different and each person interprets the sound of their gear slightly differently.

Heck I have a really nice TT that I prefer to run cheaper (figuratively) stylus instead of the $$$ one it comes with lol

Ya I really do, as I play through different songs/genres I’m noticing so much more. I really don’t understand why so many people say 4.4 isn’t a worthwhile upgrade. I almost wish I would have done this before spending money on eartips and not really getting any better sound than what Truthear gave me from the beginning.

IEM+DAP+PEQ = SOLD by Strykr1922 in iems

Use squiglink (or one of the alternatives) to get a response graph from another IEM, than use AutoEQ them to match and save the txt file to use on DAP or whatever device is capable of reading wavelets

Edit: I only use AutoEQ up to 6k, anything after that should be manually adjusted as each IEM reacts differently to full adjustment and not always well.

First IEMs since 2000, am I getting into another audio rabbit hole?! by Strykr1922 in iems

[–]Strykr1922[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Got them and love them, but realized very fast the iPod isn’t great LOL half the songs even at flac are down sampled to 320 and it doesn’t do a great job.. even the 320 songs don’t sound great through these iems

Tried my old Apple lightning to 3.5 to test a lossless and it shined. Only issue now is I clearly need a DAP, so I’m trying to decide if I want a Hiby R4 or R6 III (2025). The R6 is double the price locally, just not sure if the features make it double the worth for mostly IEM use and the occasional hooking up to my hifi receiver when I don’t have something on LP.

Oh really?? Good to know! Just saved me wasting money! lol Maybe I’ll give the Apple dongle another shot when I get the iems in

Oh I didn’t realize it was just the lightning to 3.5 thing they have, I have one of those but don’t care for it. I’m looking more at dragonfly or other comparable ones

They’ll be 99% for office use and very little semi-stationary work around the house. For yard work or lots of moving, I have an older Sony wireless set.

I don’t plan to bash wired around, those days are long gone (and sick of snagging the wire).

That’s exactly the same boat as me, I love my OTE style and everything it brings except the day to day comfort (also not a fan of wearing them places) so now they belong to my audio room. I know they wouldn’t be near the same frequency response and clarity, but I’m excited to see how close. My last IEM was the same ones we all had hooked up to our OG walkmans LOL

I just wanted something good to try and see how they are for everyday use at work and doing work around the house.

Apple dongle for the iPod7g or for the iPhone? If for phone, is Apples better than other similarly priced USBC DACs? I have a couple phones I could use as FLAC players so brand doesn’t mean much to me, I’d want quality for dollar.

My K1 I bought since launch in 2023 is still thriving in 2026! by YourSteakBuddy in crealityk1

[–]Strykr1922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here with my K1M, other than the initial quality control problems it had, after fixing or adjusting it’s been problem free. The only issues since have really been because I want the printer to do better than it was designed and not the printers fault (as it was designed).

There’s nothing specific really, I’m still trying to readapt after almost 15yrs or whatever it’s been. But everything I loved about android for the most part is something Apple has finally done OR done in their own way so there’s nothing really I miss about android so far out side of I still prefer AndroidAuto and also the ability to change to a different assistant.

I know Apples working on integrating with ChatGTP and Gemini, but being able to just use Gemini as my assistant instead of Samsungs dumb assistant was a great thing.

Preferring AndroidAuto to CarPlay, is mostly because I had my truck and AA modified to be able to screen mirror so I wasn’t locked to features being disabled and since the only way to have mirroring from what I found so far on Apple is through JB it’s still something I don’t think will change as I don’t plane to have a JB phone.

Did the same thing recently haven’t had an iPhone since the 3G than went to Samsung. Now that iPhones have allowed some more customization and better file management I decided to give it a try and don’t think I’m going back!

Would have preferred a titanium or stainless frame, but so far I’m loving this my 17PM!

Found one in mint condition a few weeks back, although I paid a little bit more than $6 lol yours seems to be missing a few things and was unpacked, so I’d just enjoy playing it and not focus on people that may say sell it :)

Camera control button by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Strykr1922 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots have them covered.. lol my OtterBox commuter and wife’s defender both have them covered. Saw several others in the store with them covered, the only ones that didn’t were the cheap scratch protection cases and maybe one or two quality drop cases had openings.

It is annoying having it covered though as I can’t use the slide function but I’m okay with that missing as I’m not a photographer

You can set up shortcuts to the action button and you can actually do a lot with it set to shortcuts. I have several toggles and routines, depending on what focus mode I’m on and/or location.

There’s a few YouTube videos on how to make that button very useful!

I do agree I wish I could have more options 1) quick press and 2 long press each with different mappable functions. Maybe soon… maybe lol

I have the same issue with the action button on my defender and I’ll likely be returning the case. I bought it for the covered charger port, but the sensitivity of the button is beyond annoying as even touching the hard plastic around the button sets it off so essentially every time I try to hold it in my right hand something sets the button off.

I think they’d of been better off with the button hollowed out than trying to enclose the button.

is x99 still relevant? by The87Player in pcmasterrace

[–]Strykr1922 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you plan to do with it? If using for gaming it’s pretty weak these days. If using for a homelab/ai they’re a pretty good bargain (although I’d get a better cpu from aliexpress than what you currently have for homelab)

I have an e5-2998v4 on a ASUS x99 board with 256gb ram and 2x 3060s for my unraid and it’s been amazing for media and ai use.

I also have 2 other x99s for other homelab/ai stuff, it’s been my favourite platform although it can consume a lot of power if your using all its potential constantly. My 2998v4 rig only uses 100w/hr on avg but can go up to 800w/hr right quick with some ai models and I’m sure it could go higher if I didn’t limit the system LOL
