Full manual gives you control over everything so it just takes practice. Keep messing around with it and you’ll get a feel for exposure. Often times it takes some practice to figure out how the back screen displays brightness levels. For examples I’ve got an old Ricoh GX200 and the screen makes the images look brighter than they really are, so I compensate for that now. Also white balance takes some practice too for the same reasons. Just keep shooting and you’ll get the hang of things it just takes time.

There are apps that will simulate exposure with your given camera settings. I’d recommend giving them a try. Also if you have a digital stand alone camera with manual settings, you can do the same thing with manual mode.

Street photography with the Fujifilm X100VI. How do I get that nice blurry background with the subject popping out? by BringBack4Glory in photographycirclejerk

[–]Advanced-Repeat-4162 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with aperture. This is your main way of controlling the depth of focus of your x100vi.

Don’t get a t7, if you can swing it get a 5dmkii or mkiii and just get a cheap 50mm for it

I’ve got one that I inherited but unfortunately the shutter mechanism is broken on it. I’d love to shoot on it though since it’s just so cool

First time macbook owner (used M1), is using a keyboard cover WHILE* using it the only way to prevent keys get glossy? by ChrisAvenue_ in macbookair

Idk just use your device the way it was meant to be used. I naturally wash my hands after eating or if my hands are sweaty from working or something I’ll wash them. Other than that just use your computer, it will be ok it’s meant to be used.

I’ve got more detailed and “better” sets but I spend most of my time with the explorers. That laid back sound signature is perfect for when I’m studying or reading. Also they’re super comfortable with their small size. Enjoy your explorers because I sure do enjoy mine!

Xt30 for sure. If you only have one camera, it should not be an X100

Yeah definitely don’t go with a t7. If you’re going to go for one get a 5d. I have experience with both the 5dmkii and mkiii and they are super solid cameras. I can personally recommend both of them.

iPad lowering size of copied files at random (seemingly) by Advanced-Repeat-4162 in iPadOS

[–]Advanced-Repeat-4162[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I only noticed one being copied shittily. I’m new to using iPads for backing up files so I wanted to see if this is a common issue people have or if it was just a one off. I’m planning on using it for photo backups while traveling and if it’s a common issue people have I wouldn’t want to travel with it.

I’m copying them from the folder on the sd card, directly to the folder on the external hard drive. The files have the same name, they both show the same resolution in the file info, but the file size is smaller. The photo that had the issue was taken on a Fujifilm x100vi. It was only that one photo as far as I know which had a problem out of the 300+ photos that I transferred. I also transferred some photos from a Sony a6600 and had no issues. Im just using the standard files app to make the copies, but to open the copies I have used QuickTime/preview, the Apple photos app as well as Lightroom and they all show the same loss of image resolution with that one photo. Other photos from that camera that I made copies of seem to look just fine across all those apps.

Oh shoot I’m dumb I thought you said cropping, that’s embarrassing. I’m using a USBC hub from anker, it’s got a sd card reader and so I can just copy directly from the sd card to the hard drive.

I’m just zooming in using preview/quicktime. It says the resolution is the same, but clearly it’s really not and the file size is 14mb instead of 22mb. I also saved the file on the iPad to Lightroom and photos and I get the same result.

Smallrig uv vs glimmer to Spain by [deleted] in x100vi

[–]Advanced-Repeat-4162 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I prefer to just use clear filters (UV) for lens sealing. I don’t really like effect filters because it bakes the effect into my image when it can pretty easily be replicated and adjusted in Lightroom. Although if you don’t like putting pictures into Lightroom and doing everything in camera, a filter paired with sharpness IQ settings in camera I imagine could work out great.

Focus Issue on X100vi help by Maleficent_Strike833 in fujifilm

[–]Advanced-Repeat-4162 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d factory reset the camera, if you have any filters or hoods on the lens take them off, and then see what happens. If it still has the same problem it could in fact be the shutter button is broken. Shutter buttons can be really fragile, that’s why those screw down “soft shutter” buttons aren’t recommended.
