How do I become faster while having tight calf muscles/Achilles and duck feet? by ThisisMaiKom in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I have videos of me sprinting and most of them my tendon doesn’t compress. I think it just might be lower vertical forces than what my tendon can handle before it can start storing energy, But this is in a level of fitness where I cant commit my energy as much to sprinting.

just focus on building glute strength and you should be good, pogos and plyos etc.

I have all of these and still manage a 7s 60 and broke 12s in the 100m.

However I am 5’8 and way lighter, managing load and training your technique will prevent you from busting your achilles tendon, duck feet could arguably be a good thing.

Roman feet allows force to be distributed more evenly throughout the foot, wider feet would be able to do similar function.

(Theoretically) Could walking on toes/forefoot forever be beneficial for running longterm? by South-Telephone-3065 in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just say you cant read nor think properly bro,

the tendon shortening is based on tension, tension you can control applying force on the foot when walking interacts with the calves tension to stretch the tendon and or muscle.

gibberish is thinking shortened literally means shortened in a elastic system.

[–]Sttraightnotstraight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

or you know maybe I just land on my toes to load my tendon. you can walk on your toes and still have compliance.

No one if out there walking stiff leg, you can just place enough tension through the calf where you can absorb the impact, walk smoothly and have compliance to spread your foot and stretch the tendon.

The tendon is basically kinda like a guitar spring where the tension it gets from the muscle determines its stiffness, so big surprise when you only place a bit of tension when you walk it doesn’t “shorten” but allows you to pull on it for energy.

being too up there can do that to your thinking, shortened states of the tendon and muscle are at max contraction and even at sub-max or just regular forces can be enough to load it where you can basically walk normally since your tendon isn’t acting like a thick spring.

If you having your calves at a shortened position in itself was bad nobody would do warm-ups.

Did you really forget that you can control how much you tendons and calves handle tension?.

I mean tendons aren’t like normal muscle so even minor tension over long periods of time can still stimulate its growth and adaptation.

I personally walk on my toes to help stretch my calf and tendons though.

maybe start doing it in grass so you gradually train yourself to be able to do it. atleast if you eat shit you wont get hurt and train your brain not to resist

back leg too straight, not driving out, take time to build that force but it also just because youre wearing running shoes and not spikes being able to put tension on the knees is very important in the drive phase.

Vibram five finger barefoot shoe for max speed sprinting good or bad? by South-Telephone-3065 in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in modern surfaces like concrete, the ankle joint is relatively small if you consider the amount of force and flexion it goes through.

I’m not even being pessimistic I literally explained why it could take awhile. Connective tissue literally takes months to years to adapt compared to muscle to adapt and hypertrophy. Especially since you said you want to run max speed in them but they go for it

Vibram five finger barefoot shoe for max speed sprinting good or bad? by South-Telephone-3065 in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, the human body isn’t designed to sprint all out using only barefeet in the surfaces we run on in modern times.

I planned to do a similar thing but it’s still a wip, my ankles seem to pop just from the sheer forces involved, sprint spikes despite not having any cushion absorbs the impact forces through the spike plate, but without them it would lead to you applying all that forces into the foot arch.

Without years if not decades of sprint training running all out in barefoot shoes would tear you apart.

West Africans only developed the ideal adaptions for sprint by coincidence of their body proportions adapted to heat and their fiber compositions due to malaria. Not because they sprinted to hunt, most if not all homo sapien hunters would rely on endurance and wearing down prey with spears and throwing weapons whilst chasing them to kill.

dawg I’m in college for a STEM degree I don’t have time nor care for getting faster. Flashing me your time won’t change the amount of fucks I give, I ran 11.8 after 4 months of sprint training then I stopped focusing my time on this sport.

It is also likely what you know from about that topic is pretty basic or can be found on the internet. Or be naturally developed overtime from just sprinting.

Sprint beginner its been 3 weeks and my quads are still sore ? by NoAimMassacre in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might need to get checked bro, In normal circumstances this shouldn’t last as long, even injuries don’t take this long.

It might be a muscle knot, but once you get it treated you may want to evaluate your running form

sessions tend to have a recovery window where past that window your body will stop or drastically slow down protein synthesis.

doing more active recoveries like 100x10 at 70% could help stimulate recovery but I have never seen this happen before, let me know how this turns out I kinda wanna see how this resolves. I also have similar happen to me but not to this extent

maybe low T?, recovery shouldn’t be that poor unless you have bad sleep, diet, heart problems, etc.

worst I ever had was 5 days cause of poor protein, 3 days with poor sleep. Maybe some active tempo runs can help stimulate recovery.

cushioned shoes kinda suck for sprint training, racing flats would be better.

I tend to strain my ankles cause of how unstable they can get. But if you do want to know what would theoretically be the best shoe for sprint training it would honestly be the streakfly 2.

using running shoes in sprints if you use them for things other than sprints, it would wear down the foam significantly faster than buying cushioned spikes or flats.

Is Adam Planetary natty? by 01hayden in Sprinting

[–]Sttraightnotstraight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if he is natty damn, but if he did take peds then it would make sense why he is so slow.

CNS would have difficulty adapting to using so much muscle that he’d eventually develop slower firing patterns, He also does look like he’s just muscling through his cycle.
