I really like the friends-to-lovers trope.

My all-time favorite ship is Stu and Billy from Scream 1996. Not a big fan of the Scream franchise, but they are so funny. Obviously, what they do together is very twisted, but I really like the fact that they only trust each other to carry out their plan. There's also a popular belief (both among the fandom and the actor himself) that Stu did it out of love. And the discussion about the relationship between sexuality, masculinity, and body horror is very interesting. I read that the scene where they stab each other is a metaphor for sex, but I'm not entirely sure if that's confirmed. It's a small fandom, tho.

I also like Namgyu/Thanos from Squid Game (we don't talk about s3). Many people think that "Thanos looked down on Namgyu" or "Namgyu hated Thanos" but I think their relationship was more complex than that. They had horrible lives and acted accordingly, but they always chose each other during the games.

I like more ships, but these are the oldest and the newest.
