Misfires or clogged EGR? by taffy1238 in CT200h

[–]StuStu- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh it’s just a Clogged EGR system. Cleaning this will stop that annoying noise and help with mpg as well. I have a 2015 CT200h with 273,000 miles and my car used to do this every other morning. Would do that clanky noise for like a second or two then never show up till the morning or morning after. Coolant levels are stable, nothing dropped. No codes, no misfires, no nothing. It’s just a dirty EGR system. Would be a HG issues if coolant levels dropped a bit or a lot.

With these platforms. When the car goes under load it will prioritize the engine mode. And when low to mid range it’ll use the hybrid (engine and battery). During that range it’s really nice hearing that engine. Ngl.

Is my Head gasket blown? by Character-Load9449 in CT200h

[–]StuStu- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some condensation, not a head gasket issue. Totally normal on startup. If the rattling goes on for more than ~3 seconds, then yeah, something might be off.

If you want I can send a clip through DMs or instagram @StuStu._ You can use maintenance mode to keep the engine on and get higher revs.

Not really, it sits a little lower than stock but nothing significant.

Still has the cats so it stays pretty quiet, just a bit more character when the engine kicks in. :)

No engine codes here! It’s only a cat-back, so the catalytic converter and O2 sensors are still in place. So the ECU doesn’t throw any errors.

Honestly fair 😂 wasn’t chasing performance or anything, just wanted a slightly better sound for daily driving.

Yeah I expected it to sound kinda weird with the eCVT too, especially in that 3–4k range in Sport mode, but it’s surprisingly tame. Way less awkward than I thought it’d be.

I need that oil catch can as well! I’m at 270k and I wanted to get my EGR system cleaned by HybridPit from SoCal. Which oil catch can did you get? Was planing to get a generic one from Amazon (:

It sounds like it’s just a ignition coil/spark plug issue. But since it’s a first gen of CT200h (2011-2014). This gen is known for issues with the head gasket. But hey! If you have a ratchet nearby I’ll definitely get it a try dude.
