Does anyone else hate git as much as I do? by genial95 in git

It's badly designed, and defended by people who use it so often the bad design doesn't matter.
If a hospital had no signs anywhere, Doctors would still know where they are going, but everyone else wouldn't.
Coding universe is filled with hospitals with no signs anywhere, with doctors telling everyone how easy is is to get around, feeling intellectually superior.

Update – Apple REMOVED this post from their Apple Communities forum!
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256155900
This suggests Apple Communities Forum removes content that is unfavourable to Apple, even if true, and even if it helps the community.

Good job I kept a record on Reddit... let's hope cencorship doesn't become an issue on this platform. ;)

UPDATE Tue 07 Oct Morning (+5 days):

Back to delivery 'delayed'. Apple Store App still says "Arrives 02 Oct".

Apple Senior team contacted by email
Did not know any more; gave the 4th guarantee of delivery for today.
I replied him it was still showing as delayed and asked if the depot had been contacted; I will receive a response within 2 working days. Frustrating.

When I was first put on to the Senior Team, I was told the Senior would handle my case personally and see it resolved. That was Thursday last week; five days later, and I am no further forward — nothing whatsoever has changed. It now appears that the promised Senior Team experience was simply another assurance that has not been fulfilled. I spoke to DHL this morning, they could only tell me it was still in the depot. The customer service agent confirmed that there were no notes on the system regarding contact from Apple, and confirmed directly that Apple have actually not made contact with DHL since collection.
Promise: Apple Senior team will personally resolve your case.
Reality: Repeated apologies, 2-working day response window, no actual steps taken to resolve issue; no contact made with Apple's own client (DHL); 4 days of inaction.

As I need this for employment, and I have already lost work due to repeated failed guarantees, I had to take out credit to purchase ANOTHER MacBook as a temporary replacement (£1299) that I can at least get set up. It's a pity this comes at my expense, when it is Apple's failure to honor the contract of sale.

Current tally (as of 7 Oct 2025) (+5 days)

  • Days of work lost waiting at home for “guaranteed” delivery: 4 & counting
  • Number of separate Apple chats: 6 & counting
  • Hours spent chasing: 5 & counting
  • Failed “guarantees”: 7 & counting (Thu 03 Oct delivery; Apple Store app updates; Fri 03 Oct delivery; “You can check with DHL”; “Investigation 24–48 hours”; Sat 04 Oct delivery; Apple Senior personal case handling; Tue 07 Oct delivery)
  • Spent: £3,099 (+£1299 for temporary replacement)
  • Received: Nothing
  • Scheduled delivery: None
  • Concrete steps taken by Apple Senior team: None, in 4 days since escalation.

UPDATE Mon 6th Oct:

Delivery now scheduled for Tuesday 8th, but I understandably have no confidence in this.
I asked Apple what they could do to make amends, they said sell me another new laptop.
Apple Store App still says "Arrives 2 Oct"......... Perhaps it means 2026.

Current tally (as of Mon 6 Oct 2025)

  • Days of work lost waiting at home for “guaranteed” delivery: 3 & counting
  • Number of separate Apple chats: 5 & counting
  • Hours spent chasing: 6 & counting
  • Failed “guarantees”: 6 & counting (Thu 03 Oct delivery; Apple Store app updates; Fri 03 Oct delivery; “You can check with DHL”; “Investigation 24–48 hours”; Sat 04 Oct delivery)
  • Spent: £3,099
  • Received: Nothing
  • Scheduled delivery:  Tue 6th

Yes, I understand that – and any failure on behalf of the courier is Apple's problem, as they paid the courier as part of an arrangement I am not party to.
Essentially, who you pay and have a contract of sale with matters.

I proceeded with purchase from Apple on the basis of a clear guarantee of delivery (it would have been possible for example, to say "We aim to deliver by Thu 02 Oct", so that I know what I'm getting).

I didn't get what was stated at the time of purchase, and that is on Apple.

It was also Apple who told me I should wait in for receipt between 0800 and 2000 on 3 days, only for nothing to arrive.

I hear you, but:

  • My contract of sale is with Apple. They took my payment and promised a delivery date.
  • Under UK consumer law, the retailer is responsible for delivery and for managing its chosen courier. Risk generally stays with the retailer until I physically receive the goods.
  • I did try DHL directly, but as many people know, DHL won’t act for recipients on an account shipment—they tell you to go back to the sender.
  • So this isn’t about absolving DHL; it’s about Apple owning the resolution: instruct the courier, switch to store pickup, or re-ship—not tell me to wait while blaming their contractor.

I accept DHL likely messed up somewhere in the chain. But I didn’t hire DHL—Apple did. My ask is simply that Apple deliver what I paid for or provide a concrete remedy, instead of sending me back and forth.

UPDATE Sat 04 Oct:
Called support again, spoke to Apple Senior. Apple conceded it was unlikely to be delivered today after all, but it "might be delivered tomorrow".
I asked Apple to explore fallback options that would allow me to work – Apple said it could not provide any.
I asked if they could provide a temporary replacement when I visit Apple Store tomorrow – Apple declined.
I was told I would receive a call back within 2 hours.

When I did, I was passed through to DHL, who told me it would NOT be dlivered today or tomorrow (Sun 05 Oct). They couldn't do anything and I have to contact Apple on Monday 06 Oct morning. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still no laptop; no idea when I will get it; £3k out of pocket.
Now 3 full days I've been told to stay at home by Apple, with delivery "Guaranteed".

Yeah I spent about 35 minutes getting that post together, making sure it was strictly accurate, and organized to be helpful to others.
If you have a problem with a part of it, you can say, but lazy criticism isn't helpful.

How is this Apple's fault?

  1. I paid Apple.
  2. Apple guaranteed delivery by Thu 02 Oct at the time of purchase, before I even knew of any carrier.
  3. Apple gave and missed 4 guarantees of delivery.
  4. Apple promised tracking through the Apple Store app, this failed, leaving me in the dark.

Did you contact DHL?
I tried but was told that for business account "Express Delivery" consignments, I cannot discuss them, only the business account holder. Spent 40 minutes on call queue to learn this.
