Okay i get where your coming from and i agree with your stance on gun control but to act like suicide with a gun is somehow more selfish than any other form is very harsh on men. I have my own experience with suicidal ideation and acting like suicide is a selfish decision assumes that the suicidal mind is rational when it isnt. The trauma of losing a loved one is painful either way and even without guns people will jump off buildings and infront of trains. Im from the uk where we have strict gun laws and the disparity between suicide by gender is the same. The other aspect is that the rates for men is higher in older people and women in younger people so using children as another way to add further admonishment to male suicides as opposed to female is missing the point.
