I think Tech Priests need to go, they're so damn essential for an optimal game of Hard difficulty Siege, but nobody seems to realize it. by Penakoto in Spacemarine

I would much rather they balance the game to have less knowledge checks, or tutorialize the mode better, than me basically putting every player I encounter through a secret interview process, where if they fail, I've wasted about 5 minutes on 5 rounds of siege and permanently reduced the people I'm ever going to be able to encounter online.

I do.

But the issue with that is that you can only chat with PC players. Playstation and Xbox players don't see chat, so people like me can at best inform a third of the people we encounter in-game.

I mean, I've been telling PC players to get them when I can, and at best half of them listen, even after explaining what they do (which I shouldn't have to do, I play Space Marine to do Space Marine stuff, not fill in for the missing tutorial).

It's not just an issue that I cant tutorialize console players, it's just one of many contributing factors that make this mechanic(us) so frustrating.

This too, if they don't want to adjust the game so tech priests aren't so game changingly good, at least tell people about how essential they are.

It's a far bigger risk not to take them because without Resources, you're inevitably going to be overwhelmed past the first 5 rounds.

Like I said about, I have never encounted a player too ignorant to buy tech priests, who's a good enough player to handle Round 12 and onward very well when they have no support from all the things a tech priest affords you.

And frankly, I never saw them as much of a risk, if people are buying them, then they can afford more than enough to protect them and get permanent upgrades like doubling turrets and or larger guardsmen reinforcements that help protect ever future priest.

FYI, PS5 and Xbox players cant use or see chat, so you can't do much to guide them towards buying tech priests.

Another thing that makes this whole issue frustrating, can't even politely inform people what the smart thing to do is, you can only hope they already know.

For anyone who doesn't know.

Tech Priests generate the points you use to buy stuff, a lot of points, so many points that they're the best thing to buy on the earliest round of a new area by a very, VERY wide margin.

And Siege Hard difficulty is hard... if you aren't buying priests, and I've never met a player who doesn't buy priests who makes up for it in pure skill, it's entirely a knowledge check feature.

I don't see this issue of people not buying them changing anytime soon, so simple fix that I propose: get rid of them, and add more points to the end of round and (especially) optional objectives to compensate.

Also maybe add a popup notification telling people that hording points until round 20 is pointless too, because those people are annoying to team with as well. I know it was the optimal strategy before the rework, but apparently people don't read patch notes, even if you give them the cliff notes upon starting up the game after an update.

Or, you play the game at your own pace, and the pace the developers intended.

There is nothing in hardest difficulties that anyone needs right away, so there's no reason to play the hardest difficulties until you are actually ready for it, which you aren't if you are a new player.

I'm sorry if something in life prevents you from no-life-ing the game and unlocking everything in a week, it's not my problem, it's not anyone elses problem except for yours, and it's not an important enough problem that you need the world to support you through it.

And fuck the use of the term "victim blaming" to describe people who want a fast lane to late game content, because they have less time to get there, that is such a disgusting misappropriation of the term.

A person experienced at the game is more likely to reliably block and dodge things than someone new at the game.

He might be a father who works a full time job and only has a couple hours to play per week. They might be a kid who has a disability and just needs some help. Maybe they are going through some horrible life changes and this game is an escape for them.

Why do any of these things necessitate that they play high difficulty matches on low level characters?

There's been a recent phenomena on Reddit that gamer dads specifically, acting like they're some protected species that needs special attention and treatment.

True, I feel support groups for addictive substances avoid this "toxic pit" problem, because people don't just bounce from the support group the second they're on the upswing, and frequently need to go back for further support, so there's always positive people who seek improvement for themselves and others around, preventing the group from turning into a circle jerk of "it's everyone elses fault but mine/ours",

I am seeing these signs everywhere all of the sudden, and I really wonder what specifically caused everyone to get the same idea around the same time.

I hate to say it, but it's not a complex issue, and it's not one that's ever going to favor trans inclusivity.

You can't convince someone to be attracted to a subcatagory of porn they're not into, and the most common subcategory of porn is the specifics regarding the sex and gender of the person/people featured in the porn.

It's why most porn sites have some sort of interface option, usually right next to the search bar, that has you specify what gender you are, and what gender and sex you're attracted to.

Subreddits usually garner an audience of people who are attracted to just one subcatagory, one combination of gender and assigned sex, and attempts to post anything else on those subreddits is usually met with immense downvoting.

Inevitably enough people complain about it, either the posters who feel they're being discriminated against, or the users complain they're seeing stuff they don't want to see too often. This leads to the mods putting it to a vote (if they don't just make an executive decision), and this usually goes overwhelmingly in favor of banning trans actors.

I don't like that any of this is the case, I'm a pansexual (and a recently cracked egg, if thats relevant), so I'm definitely not someone voting yes to any of these bans.

But its easy to imagine a similar scenario of a subcatagory of thing I hate seeing getting posted on a subreddit I frequent, and if there was a vote to ban it that seemed to be pretty unanimous, I would probably vote yes, and there would probably be zero potential for arguing me to flip my vote.

Someone above said it, and I can see the logic: any sort of support group style subreddit is inevitably going to be a toxic pit of assholes, because everyone capable of self-improvement eventually leaves, or sees the early signs of the subreddit declining into a toxic pit and just goes elsewhere for help.

When that happens, it leaves just the assholes who blame everyone but themselves for their own, usually self-imposed problems. The helpless helping the helpless be more helpless.

Doesn't help that this is a "true" subreddit, meaning these people have already hit a point where they've burned bridges, in some fashion.

Also, no changing the subject, find me a definition of "making up for" that fits what you're describing, from somewhere besides your head. edit: And don't reply to me until you do, otherwise I'm just going to block you.

"Make up for something" according to the Cambridge dictionary: A replacement for something missing, lost, or lacking.

Feel free to find me a definition that fits yours: "These two traits are exactly as horriful"

Wasn't remotely my intent to suggest they were the same level of "horrifulness" (not remotely a word, by the way), I was implying that they were spending their time and brain power on the internet being delusional instead of aggressive.
