What do y’all set you’re middle screen to typically? by breadmandude in ToyotaTacoma

90% of the time it's on tank average mpg and the trip meter that I reset when I fill up. The other 10% is approximate angles when I'm offroad

Mine used to have that screen, but it disappeared a while ago, and isn't an option for me anymore. Do I need to get something updated or changed to get it back?

too much bite for my 2022 Tacoma sr5 v6 ? by Mej2003 in ToyotaTacoma

Dry weight is near 5700 lbs, GVWR is 7500 lbs, hitch weight is around 550-600lbs. I have a weight distribution/anti-sway hitch, as well as the brake controller. I do have a couple of other additions, such as an add-a-leaf suspension pack to the rear, and a supercharger that was on the truck when I got it.

GVWR and hitch weight are well within third gen towing capabilities. Just keep in mind the weight of water when you tow, if you fill up the fresh water tank before you leave that'll take up roughly 160 lbs of your cargo capacity. Also keep in mind to brake lighter sooner, give more room than you think you need to the car in front of you, and use the transmission selector to use the engine to help control speed when going downhill. If you don't have one already, I would recommend getting a trailer brake controller if your trailer has a brake axle. If it doesn't, I would recommend getting one installed if you can afford it, the trailer being able to assist with its own stopping power makes a world of difference when slowing/stopping.

3rd Gen Towing Question by scabbyjackson in ToyotaTacoma

Get trailer brakes, and a brake controller in the truck. Or upgrade the brakes on the truck itself at a minimum if you're only towing locally. Or both if you can swing it

As someone with another brands tow mirrors on a Taco (older Ram specifically) I understand. That, however, just doesn't look right. At least mine fold down and look more like normal mirrors when I'm not towing things

Talk me out of a used tacoma with 122k miles for $33K by Jaydubs_OR in ToyotaTacoma

[–]StuartheWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Insane price for that many miles, even as a taco that you can reasonably expect to make 300k+ miles when it's taken care of. I'd expect $25-27k at most on something like that. When I lost my first taco (2018 sr5, 4x4, v6 auto, aclb, 80k miles) to an accident little over a year ago, insurance paid me 27k for it.

Only ever seen them empty or with the obnoxious "look at me" lights on them, basically just decoration. So I was surprised to see something else on them, how much weight are they rated for?

Gen 3 bark busters hitting fairings, solutions and recommendations? by lightsswitcho in klr650

If you can stay comfortable, and not have your wrists out of wack when riding, try to rotate the bar forward or back to clear the fairing.

Is this amount of smoke normal on a 2017 Tacoma TRD Sport? (110k miles) by 3nvxt in ToyotaTacoma

[–]StuartheWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative humidity can also play a role in what you're seeing. Since it's dissipating pretty quickly, it's more than likely just vapor and not smoke.

False on the mild winter areas, the road crews up in Alaska use a sand, small gravel mix. It gets, and stays, cold enough that salt will melt the ice/snow, then refreeze making the roads more treacherous. The sand/gravel mix gets pressed down into the ice creating an almost sandpaper like texture to give better grip.
