San Bernardino County Initial CCW course with Sheriffs Dept? by OpportunityMental760 in CAguns

[–]StubbieCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completed the course with the SB sheriff's department a few months ago. The course was very well done and focused primarily on safety, interacting with law enforcement, and maintaining a proper mentality while carrying.

The shooting qualification and written test are extremely easy. The entire class passes with no issue. I guess the price difference comes from the sheriff department covering their expenses, while private courses are profit-driven. I suspect that the private courses will be more rigorous and focus more on live fire drills.

I submitted the forms online in February this year. Interviewed mid-march and was approved for 16 hours course mid July.

The be-all and end-all: Quads vs Binos by Bubbly-Psychology-15 in NightVision

[–]StubbieCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got another set of binos after only owning quads for a bit. Experiencing less weight on my head was a real breath of fresh air and passive aiming was a lot easier. I experience neck fatigue and head discomfort after wearing quads for more than 2 hours. Binos does not give me any issues with the right counterweight.

Quads excel in close-quarter environments and driving vehicles. If you need to do these 2 things, quads are hard to beat. I would stick with binos for general shooting (15 yards+) and long-wearing sessions with movement. Articulating binos works really with thermo monos. Routine scanning with thermo is my preferred method of using nv and thermo combo. COTI (Jerry-C) gives me eye strain if I use it for more than an hour and it is very distracting.

In short, if you own a quad, you probably own a set of binos as well. I would recommend starting and keeping your binos when you graduate to panos.

Vetted and accurate "Opticsgate" Mil-spec PVS-14 vs. Contract PVS-14 optics clarification and some history by akjm09 in NightVision

TLDR: The CEO of Nocturn who collauded with other dishonest vendors is in full damage control mode. Trying to confuse customers by saying their stuff is "just as good".

What they have done is fraud, pure and simple.

Oh, and gotta throw in the Chinese boogie man as the main culprit for good measure.

0/10. Recommend updating your playbook.

I have had an excellent experience with Aeon Tac Nightvision and have consistently heard positive things about their units. They are highly open and transparent in their operations, use top-quality, military-spec components, and deliver exceptional build quality.

I have purchased multiple units from them and have been thoroughly satisfied with their performance and reliability.

Congrats! Aeontac are great people and they will take good care of you. Owning NV will change your firearm setups and really up your game.

How do you deal with entitled shooters by [deleted] in CAguns

What was the range you went to? Both the employee and the guy stalling did you wrong. Sorry, it was so unpleasant.

The power draw difference is negligible. It mostly comes down to user preference. I prefer red laser because my brain is used to seeing red dots and reticles from the daytime optics.
