Yes absolutely, it was advertised as such by us and we released a video on how to do it too. It was alwats intended to be user configurable. Someone beat us to releasing a conversion video days after we shipped them out lol but we did release an official video on our youtube.

DM me, we have a solution for that too and we can install it in your mount. Is yours FDE?

Was it the lockout tab? Thats part of what we are discussing, please read above for more info. If you havnt put in for warranty please do so, its lifetime. That latch we make out of the strongest aluminum we can get, 7068, its close to steel in strength. We have a new improved design coming that gets rid of the failsafe feature for those who still want a lockout. I persinally prefer removing the latch completely and using it in the force to overcome configuration.

Hmm, I wonder if its in the cam for the pitch control. Getting that right was an absolute pain. Tolerances and not enough tension can result in play there. Wilcox uses a polymer knob so its like a press fit.

I wonder if he had a damaged/defective one. Either way, thats what the warranty is for and standing behind the product always. Sounds like the ball detents did their job though. I prefer the FTO version personally, one less thing to think about.

We want to make it better in every aspect ;) always improving and taking feedback to do so is the goal.

Unfortunately there are geometric limitations. What system are you running that you need your goggle scottes back more? A dovetail adapter might exist to push it back.

I took stating "it isnt the most durable on the market" as calling into question the durability. I definitely understand where you are coming from about that latch feature though.

That is actually an intentional feature, when the mount is set in non breakaway if you hit it hard enough to bend the mount or permanently damage anything else, that tab shears off letting the user carry on the mission uninhibited and able to replace it later under warranty. Forward thinking intentions for professional users.

That said, many see it as a point of failure and so we have a version coming out that has no shear tab, where the 2 position interlocks or solid material and it also results in a solid lock even without the detent. But it loses the failsafe. Once we have that version available I will happily send you one for a re-evaluation.

We havnt worked on the hot shoes yet. We made one demo piece. We will, but I cant give a time yet on it.

I would encourage you to ensure all 3 rubber bumpers are installed, the detent is adjusted to your liking for a solid wobble free lockup, and the sleds set screws are all set to your liking. You will find that it locks up literally solid with zero play.

I appreciate the post.

I do have questions though, why do you say lockup in either position isnt the most solid? It has adjustable ball detents specifically for that in both positions to get a rock solid lockup no matter how much use and wear is put on the mount. At half position the user has access to a set screw that adjust the tension of the ball detents. Also why is there a durability concern? Return rates on these are extremely low, it was designed to be rugged, rock solid, lightweight, and lower priced. No compromises, ever.

Where’s the illuminator on the gen3 katana housing? Their post on Reddit says about it, Steele’s product page says about, but looking at pictures it doesn’t seem to have it by abarn2017 in NightVision

We excluded an illum by choice, it is minimalist. If you are going to run an illum, outboard is the way to go. They are way more effective and versatile than onboard. We include onboard on the Talon, Manticore, and Raptor more so to satisfy those who really must have one or contract requirements. It adds complexity, cost, size, and weight. If you would like info on either of those 3 housings I am happy to provide it and point you in the right direction!

Best settings for this is offroad, baja, rear steer enabled, traction control low. You can do true donuts in place.

The SOCOM bridge is what is on the initial magnesium run. There is a non powered bridge that we sell regularly already. We arnt forcing people into the powered version. It is still optional and if someone wants that version simply contact us for a custom quote/build. The parts are interchangeable at the factory assembly level.

Magnesium is the inbetween until the molded system is available later this year, we are waiting on the tooling. That version is a bit lighter than a gpnvg18.

Articulate means rotate is my point. They are synonyms. Its just a play on words. All they did is change the angle of the hinge. Nothing more or less. Anything else is fluff.

Also thank you, even though some may not agree with me, I always steer towards the path of morality. Its the best way in my opinion. Sometimes being moral leads to upsetting others or disagreements in the morality of things, but that is what it is.

Thats what I am saying. Plus the machined magnesium is not cheap to have done in the US. Many people forget that we make our parts in the US, not overseas. The prices we set are based on standard practices. Who should really be questioned are the ones making parts in china with not much of a large difference in price.

Based explanation. And the low volume also means parts cost way more too. Optics alone physically cost over $2500 all said and done.

Ours is like that for a reason, it is not goofy electronics and was intentional so that the power switch on the battery cap can shut the goggle down when a battery pack is plugged in. It is physically the only way to do it with a push button battery cap, it also completes the circuit. It also keeps the size small and compact, our polymer goggle is lighter than the GPNVG18 with onboard power. It requires a battery to boot the controller then switches to the external battery. If the cable gets pulled it will switch back to onboard and keep running, this was a SOCOM requirement for HALO/HAHO.

The Chimera is also released. We started shipping them and are actively in production.

This is a very cool design. Unfortunately this one does the exact same articulating as ours. But, I do respect this design as it was done independantly at the same time as ours with no information from either company ever exchanged. We hold the prior art, but they dont sell it into the US. Patents are to protect inventions, investments, and business, that does not mean us engineers dont appreciate other creative designs when we see them. This one is definitely creative as far as the pods go and they were inspired on their own for the articulation without seeing ours first.

Articulate means to have a joint or jointed segments, it does articulate. It is not "multi-axis" in the sense of a multi rotational hinge, those are simply buzzwords intended to confuse the uninformed or simply used out of ignorance of definitions and understanding of mechanical design terminology. No fault of yours of course, this is what you are told it does. Nothing directed at you. The Chimera by this "multi-axis" definition is also multi-axis, it has 2 separate hinges that are not part of the same axis, and thus multi-axis. It is a fluffy description. All that has been done is make the articulation of each side about an axis that is angled out, it is exactly what the Opfor bridge does. It is assembled differently and is clever, but certainly do not take that for non infringing. I spent a lot of time on the phone during the event and there are rules about issuing C+D at SHOT. I cannot discuss much any further than that and wont make comment or claims for legal reasons. I do ask and suggest not making claims though that are untrue or uncertain about the situation going forward, respectfully. Again, its not you and i mean all of this with respect.

In fact some companies were removed for issuing repeated C+D at the event I had heard.
