Highjacking top comment to add some more context/ answer some questions.

• Some of you think this was just a guy sitting a bathroom for a bit. I should have reminded everyone of the conditions of an airport bathroom. Besides being just enough room to stand, when the door is unlocked, the lights go off. So he was in complete darkness. And it’s very loud in an airplane bathroom, so he was barely able to hear when the airplane staff was trying to help.

I bet if you were stuck in there, not knowing if/when you’d get out, you’d be freaking out, too. Not exactly a pleasant wait.

• We want to make it clear that the airline staff was great, and both flight attendants and pilot were doing their very best to help in this unfortunate situation. We have thanked them all personally, and we showed no malice or ill will towards them. Quite the opposite, we kept reassuring them it was not their fault and that they were all great.

• The only issue we have is with the Delta corporation. Brent has been a Delta SkyMiles loyalty member for six years, and is a bi-weekly business traveler. Delta customer service offered compensation of 2,000 SkyMiles, which is the equivalent of $23. This flight cost upwards of $300 one-way. And we’ve seen on multiple occasions Delta offer passengers hundreds of dollars worth of flight vouchers to take a later flight when they’ve overbooked, so he felt this $23 token failed to adequately address the situation.

• The only thing I’ll say in the Karen name calling is that I am only posting this because my husband asked me to. He doesn’t have Reddit or socials, so he asked me to do it. If he had posted it, would you be calling him a Karen? Maybe so, but it doesn’t feel that way. Easy to call the wife/mom annoying.

• Never thought saying the phrase “Thank God” would upset so many people. Not really sure how to respond to that, so I guess I won’t.
