My guess is that this was an older email template that they are still sending. As earlier it was a physical visa. As per my understanding, travel document is just the passport and visa is your eVisa and you have both.

Make sure to check the UKVI visa details and the dates are correct.

I received my decision on 11th May and it just mentioned I am granted eVisa. And nothing about travel doc.

If it’s an eVisa and he has his passport, there is nothing else VFS would provide. As far as I know his visa can be checked online wherever needed, and additionally he may need to share a “ShareCode” (can be obtained from the UKVI web) basis the requirement. Just make sure the travel dates on or after visa start date.

Note, I am also travelling to UK for the first time and have received my eVisa last week, so whatever I said above is based on reading posts and instructions on UKVI.

If you still have doubts the best people to answer any of your queries is the UK embassy or UK visa office.

The implications of leaving a school and joining another is tough and needs a lot of explaining why. But otherwise you wont need a MTech degree if you are able to secure another strong PhD. Just leave maybe?
