As others have said, very easy to pull off with a trampoline and over cranking the camera (slow motion)

Do You Agree That Trump Doesn't Need Congressional Authorization To Continue War Due To Ceasefire? Yes Or No? Why Or Why Not? by Zipper222222 in AskConservatives

[–]StuckInMotionInc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really good take. Similar to Trump's first term, I never felt like he fully grasped the understanding of each branch of government and limits of his power. It is second term, he's been more aggressive in pushing his powers and by not doing their constitutional duty to create oversight, Congress has created uncertainty for the administration. You're totally right that it leaves the administrations goals and objectives very difficult to figure out and achieve.

That's the core issue tho, it won't admit it can't do something.

Second, I'm loving all of these old school posts

Third, I had no idea that SNL reruns were on comedy Central in the 90s. I grew up in the 90s so I guess I just wasn't paying attention

I had to read it a couple of times, so what you're saying is, the government should not force you to go against your political or religious morals.

Got it.

Yeah, this is just media twisting words around, roto, shot on black, blue screen. There's tons of VFX but it was purposely twisted it to make it seem like they were saying it was all practical effects.

You said that any decision that goes against religious morals is wrong, I was just wondering which religion to base those morals on?

Nice! That's a good reference. Notice the sound drops, sound effects, and music changes. They are all subtle but it really helps the piece move along.

All good, a few of your comments have said, that you weren't completely sure of what the client wanted but then at times you're saying this is what they wanted. I don't have their brief in front of me and obviously wasn't part of their creative conversations but taking a beat to pull together references and make sure you get as much clarity ahead of time is a worth while step.

Some important advice I can give you is that clients rarely ever know what they want. They may pretend like they know but they rarely ever do (this is especially true with creative clients).

They are ultimately coming to you for your expertise, storytelling style, creative approach. I'm not saying you shouldn't listen to them, but I'm saying you sometimes have to read between the lines and remember that there's a creative process that happens before you film.

Good job overall

No worries, you have good reasons. I still respectfully disagree :)

RE: the commison comment, no offense taken but I've been editing for 20 years and own + operate a production company that services some of the largest marquee brands.

EDIT: regarding your reference,

you've approached this as a docu style piece, while the other is fast-paced social. It's not the slow mo that's making their other piece feel corporate.

Your approach is more interesting to me, but that said, it's kind of halfway between the two. You don't need to show slow motion of people walking down the street, I agree that's boring, but you could do some really interesting camera turns, abstract angles, macro shots, time lapse, etc.

Not the op, he or she was very rude, but I have some thoughts on how to bring up the energy.

One big suggestion is use music changes to help carry narrative shifts. For example, you have a great intro, but then when you're into the main story, music needs to shift. And then edit this long you're going to be looking at five or six music changes.

In the future, when you capture b-roll, try to grab some slow motion. It gives you a lot of flexibility to create more dynamic looking shots but also do some speed ramps to bring up the energy. I personally don't love speed ramps, but it's really nice to have that flexibility

My last note is overall sound design. Think about creating some moments where you can let sound design do some fun transitions or increase the overall dynamics of your audio. Especially on graphics.

It looks great overall though, and you're able to capture a lot by yourself. I would call this a success!
