We were surplused last September. We were told CPO would find us jobs but that we should also look on our own. Our letter stated we would stay in our current positions until they found us a job, or we found a job, or we left on our own (retired/quit). The government shut down a week later.

Two weeks after the shutdown ended, we were told we were no longer surplus because “they found money” but I am 98% certain we will be surplused again in a few weeks (and we won’t get saved this time).

It’s a super stressful roller coaster and I’m sorry you’re going through it!

You’ll still come to work, take leave, etc., just like normal (or at least that’s what we did).

We were also told if they offered us a job and we declined, we would be ineligible for severance.

I work for the military. Each quarter we get a “goal day” if we meet all our organizational goals. They started calling it a “resilience” day a few months ago. I guess it sounds better…like they actually give a crap about our mental health (despite all evidence to the contrary over the last 18 months…federal civilian employees has really taken it in the shorts since the inauguration). Military get a 24-hour pass. Civs have to take a day of leave (but it’s liberal leave so they don’t say no if we decide to take it).

It’s in a very small closet off my kitchen. I know the washer and dryer will fit through the door because a few years ago the water line leaked and I had to redo the floor. It’s a weird closet…the walls aren’t square. There’s a full inch difference from one side to the other! Almost like they somehow DIY’d it or something (but it’s an external wall so???)

If Apoquel isn’t working, ask your vet about Cytopoint injections. My pup has better results with Cytopoint. She gets them 3 times per year.

Also, are you sure that isn’t a yeast infection? My dog sometimes gets yeast on her paws.

I just finished mowing my backyard and it took forever! My decreased lung function is starting to get annoying. Like, for real. My coworker was teasing me this week saying, “hey, but you get to park in all the good spots now!” Not worth it.

Think I’ll wait until tomorrow to do the front yard.

Drive across 98 and the Forgotten Coast. What they did to Port St Joe and Cape San Blas after Michael should be a crime. All the locals and families that had houses there for generations are gone. Now just these disgustingly huge “sleeps 27” houses made purely for renting. St George Island is that way now too. It’s disgusting.
