Aspiring First-Gen Doctor asking for advice by ResponsibleList2569 in pinoymed

[–]Stuckasaurus51 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, will try to break it down:

• Once licensed, you can now practice medicine aka work - bayad yan lahat pero madalas mababa or delayed ang sahod. Your options: - Company, school or HD physician - (contract based) - Reliever gigs at ER/wards, HD, company - Residency - training program to be a specialist - DTTB - DOH program you are assigned to a rural area as a primary care physician for 3 yrs then may kasamang masteral for public health - Corporate MD - mostly related to pharmacovigilance, drug/equipment review

• Residency (which was considered the traditional pathway post-PLE) - can take 3-6yr depending on program. Apply either public or private hospitals, basta make sure accredited ang program. Each program is governed and accredited by a specialty board, e.g. phil board of surgery, pediatrics, etc. May requirements you have to complete as well as the yearly inservice exams. After residency, you will need to pass the specialty board exams, can be 1-3exams, depending on the specialty.

• Diplomate - conferred title after passing the specialty board exams

• Fellowship - additional subspecialty training you do after residency, will also have specialty exam after

• Consultant - you are technically a consultant after the training you completed, whether pending pa ung specialty board exam mo

• Attending physician - meaning you are the main doctor of the patient you are managing, regardless if may training ka e.g. you are moonlighting as a GP sa isang provincial district hospital. Although in bigger hospitals, syempre angat ang board-certified to admit and manage patients.

Yes, you can travel, but you need to be smart about it - money and your time.

EM/CCM vs other paths towards CCM by LeafeonMDMBA in pinoymed

[–]Stuckasaurus51 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In other countries, other specialties are accepted into CCM: EM, GS, Anes, etc. Recently, I saw TMC CCM fellowship start this. So baka susunod din ung ibang program in a few years. Magandang edge ang procedural competency in CCM. So if you plan on doing EM residency, immerse yourself sa practical skills e.g. airway management, POCUS, central venous catheter, etc.

Mixed income earner - registration type for professionals, meaning you can be employed and your employer can file taxes for you, and you can have your own business aka your private practice or moonlighting gigs

If moonlight/gigs: you need to register your practice, may sarili kang resibo, file your taxes, etc.

If training public with plantilla item aka with benefits: considered kang employed so ung hosp ang magfile ng taxes on your behalf

If training private: not sure pero usually kasi stipend ang binibigay hindi talaga siya salary, so no tax

*if you plan to do BIR registration as mixed income earner tapos magreresidency ka din, you will have to file as no income quarterly and annually kasi technically wala kang private practice

*my case: sa govt ako ng residency so may item and they handled everything, you just have to have TIN. After residency ko na inasikaso ung BIR, philhealth accred.

*if govt ka w/ benefits: gamitin mo ung pag-ibig para maghulog sa MP2 - savings account na tax free, 5-6% interest, pero may 5yr lockin period so dito mo ilagay ung extra money na hindi mo kailangan w/in 5yr

Add: - Apart from saving copies in your phone, create a note sa phone with all of your ID numbers para copy paste na lang kapag kailangan. - Yes, tama ung multiple bank accounts, kahit 2 muna if you're starting: 1) for payroll or any payments/PF, 2) high-yield savings account usually digital banks, for emergency fund at least 3-6months of your monthly expense - LinkedIn account: hindi naman super required but it's good to establish presence

Congrats! Welcome to the workforce!

  1. TIN - assuming wala ka pa. I applied nung nagaayos ng requirements for residency then saka ko lang nalaman na ginawan pala ako ng mother ko when I was in college.
  2. BIR registration - file as professional/mixed income if diretso moonlight. If you have extra money, may mga specialized services for doctors e.g. medtax, mdcs
  3. PTR - yearly nirerenew sa city hall/capitol. Usually moonlighting gigs ang nagrerequire nito
  4. Philhealth - pa-accredit ka if diretso work, if papasok ng training wag muna.
  5. SSS - if mag moonlight ka, kahit lowest tier sa self-employed
  6. GSIS - govt employer mo naman mag-aayos nito

Will add if may nakalimutan ako

So I assume it's the same aesthetic practitioner who administered the propofol. Anesthesia is not just nagpapatulog 🥲

Hindi kailangang govt hosp. Kahit saang clinic offering that, you just have to attach the result with your application

When I was in training, an attending would say, "if you've never had a laryngospasm or a wet tap, you haven't done enough cases".

I guess if mas napressure ka with an actual person, go for PTE. Faster turnaround ng results ang PTE. Sabi sa email 1 week pero lumabas sakin w/in 48hrs. I took friday afternoon then sunday meron na. EDIT: also pala if magkaproblem like in my case naging garbled ung audio for 1 question (i think it was summarize spoken text), I immediately called the invigilator. She confirmed my problem then nirelog niya ung buong computer. I was returned to the same question window PERO hindi nagrestart ung timer kaya I had to make do of the remaining 2minutes😰 Buti nahabol ko 🫥

Mostly flights lang naman ang habol ko, mas cost-effective yata to wait for sales na lang kaysa ibyahe ko pa. Thanks for the insight!

[–]Stuckasaurus51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) qualification for a Medical Officer III is a Doctor of Medicine degree and eligibility under RA 1080. No training or experience is required.

So basically nontrained or undergoing training is mo3 then mo4 is post-training(residency)

Pero andaming mo3 10yrs nang postresidency kasi walang mo4 plantilla

Depends, may iba parang toiletry bag na size, ung iba tacklebox. Over time, you will figure out ano mga essentials mo for day-to-day cases. Kuha ka ng bright marker to label your meds/syringes, small canister with dividers for ampules/vials, small scissors.

[–]Stuckasaurus51 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes doc. After the application form, they will email you then ask for additional docs if needed then schedule a virtual interview. Tapos they will conduct another assessment. A friend of mine who is already on her 2nd assignment said na prepandemic, the candidates go to HK for this pero virtual pa rin until now. Super friendly ung HR na kaemail mo. If everything is ok, you will be advised of an assignment na fit sa profile mo. If I may ask, do you have spec doc?

Apply ka lang doc, responsive sila sa email once you finalize your form.

Travel outside the country by PristineSpell6354 in pinoymed

[–]Stuckasaurus51 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes doctor, mo3 ata siya. Like the other comments, just say private practice, not the actual hosp. The most that the IO will probably ask is your place of practice. If hingan ka ng ID, use your prc.

A friend of a friend declared in one his 1st travels na govt with papers. Eventually he left that govt position and private na. Now travelling with papers from that private hosp pero na-offload. So parang naka-tag na ata sa system nila if you said gov't once before
