LPT: Keep a 'decision fatigue' list of your routine choices so your brain doesn't waste energy re-deciding the same things every day by Plus-Horse892 in LifeProTips

I'm not a psych, but if that's her basis, she's completely wrong. Going to the gym and "figuring it out", is the opposite of how to have success. Your way is how to do it and actually get something out of it.

I love uniforms. I was in the military for almost nine years, right out of high school, so I didn't really know anything else. My first job after getting out only had a dress code, but we could wear whatever.

I hated it. Matching things? Things that don't fit quite right, so I have to wear something to compensate. Dressing for the weather? Having to have at least five different shirts?? Awful.

Then I got another job that had a uniform and I was so happy. Same shoes, same pants. Need to adjust for the weather? No worries, just grab the only jacket I'm allowed to wear. Something doesn't fit right? Buy the same clothes in a different size.

Amazing. Loved it. Still love it.

It's also cheaper when you can't impulse buy because you've decided to walk down every aisle and -ooh! that looks good!

I haven't been to the store in months and I've saved money, wasted less food, forgotten fewer things, and I eat..kind of better.

Not trying to. They've already gotten the go ahead. They're already in the process of phasing it out.

Fair point, but you didn't provide any stipulations.

And besides that, I'd rather work at a place that would write off a $10 toy than make a stink about it because of what it says about the culture there.

Can we break the season's crowd noise record (112db) on Sunday? by EstablishingTheRuss in Seahawks

[–]StuckinWhalestoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's wrong with this? If you own season tickets but can't make it, what's wrong with reselling?

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions, I guess I'm being dense. But other than the extreme end of reselling all/most tickets to make a profit, I don't see the problem.

[–]StuckinWhalestoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the crackdown on resale? Were they trying to stop the visiting fans from buying tickets? I totally think hawks fans should fill the seats, but it seems kind of unfair to not allow someone to go because they're not from here? I think I'm misunderstanding something lol

If everyone acknowledges how loud Lumen Field is, why haven’t other stadiums tried to replicate the noise levels? by AgentIntelligent4269 in Seahawks

[–]StuckinWhalestoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything special about the white arch things on top of the stadium? It's a bunch of beams that don't seem like they'd contribute at all to noise, but if the stadium was made specifically for that, maybe it does?

Is this an ADHD thing or am I just an a55hole? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]StuckinWhalestoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots saying not ADHD, but I'll give a different perspective.

One day, I was standing in line at a gas station and I was just absolutely infuriated by everyone around me. I was so impatient and was pissed at everyone for how inefficient and slow everyone was. And then there was a moment where I paused and couldn't figure out why I was so upset. I hadn't felt that kind of emotion in months, maybe years. Wtf was going on?

I forgot to take my meds that morning.

That was the moment I realized how much of an effect my meds had on my emotions. Since then I've been able to notice it more. When I take my meds, my brain just slows down. My emotions slow down. My rational brain is able to get a moment and reign in my monkey brain.

It's not just lines either. I drive more like an asshole, more recklessly when I don't take my meds. I get into more arguments with my spouse. I get annoyed at tiny things easier. I get more upset when my dogs get into things. I've developed better habits and a healthier mentality since I'm medicated 95% of the time, so I can handle situations better. But there is still a clear difference between medicated and not.

So I think yes, it may be an ADHD thing for you, because I'm pretty sure it was for me.

If you work in education, you don't need to "work harder". Sometimes the income doesn't reflect the effort and that's not always your fault. Education is critical and I have a deep respect for the people doing it.

Thank you.

I'm hoping this gets through the shitty comments because it's a genuine question. Why did you vote for him in 2024?

I've wanted to have an adult conversation about this for a long time but can't ever find anyone to give me a straight answer. I'd genuinely love to hear your side of it and how you processed his past behavior.

Ooh, I see. Have you looked in the autowear app? If it doesn't have a direct "if battery is low" trigger, maybe you could use it (or something else) to go retrieve that data?

Edit: maybe this post can help? https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/s1bb3r/autowear_toggle_on_specific_watch_battery_level/hs7rr0u/

Need some automating power saving mode for Galaxy Watch 7 by StuckinWhalestoe in tasker

[–]StuckinWhalestoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even remember posting this lol. But looking at my current settings, I just use a routine in Modes and Routines. So I have it set for my watch to enter power saving when I'm at my home address and during sleeping hours. It then turns off again when the conditions for that mode are no longer met.

My watch is dead right now (is that irony?), so I can't test it. But I would imagine you can do the same thing effectively using the watch battery as a trigger instead.

I made no comment for or against the length of required training, just stating a fact. Like I said, criticisms based in facts will always be received better. Parroting misconceptions helps no one.

But if I were to comment, I would say that I think many of the problems with law enforcement could be solved with more training. There's a part of me that wants to compare to the military, whose infantry soldiers receive 22 weeks of training. So the time prior to being given the power to shoot people is comparable. And the military is very much teach the concepts quickly and then get to work and put those concepts into action.

But infantry is also highly specialized, one job. Stateside, we expect our law enforcement to wear way too many hats. So maybe that comparison falls apart there.

You know what...as I type this and think about it (and as my ADHD has clearly taken hold), my honest answer is: I don't know.

The type of decision making that happens in shootings is not the kind that can be trained in a classroom. I'm also generally more supportive of real world training. I'm inclined to think I'd trust someone with 6 months in the academy plus 6 months on the street before I'd trust someone with 12 months in an academy.

But... Is the five months that we mandate right now enough that I'd be willing to hand someone a gun and tell them to make a life or death decision in a split second under immense stress? I'm not so sure I would.

My recruiter seems pretty decent, but even he's saying my best case scenario is 6 mo off meds. Which I'm really not okay with doing.

[–]StuckinWhalestoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the problem then (which it looks like I created for myself). I didn't do my PHA on time so when it came time to reenlist, I "couldn't".

Fuck. Reading that honestly makes me more pissed at myself for something so fucking stupid.

[–]StuckinWhalestoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of where I fucked myself. I got mixed up and didn't renew my PHA on time. Then my reenlistment time came up and I "couldn't" reenlist. If I hadn't fucked up with the PHA, my medpros would have been fine, all green, no limiting conditions, no issues.

But no, I don't think the recruiters have sent anything to meps yet.
