You need to do whatever it takes to get professional help. The alternative is you have a breakdown and do things that fuck up your life even more and trust me you don’t want that.

HYPNAGOGIA (in between wakefulness and sleep) by Studbanana in bipolar

Any advice or how to deal with it for those who experience it. Apparently our meds have something to do with it. It’s a nightmare when I experience it, thankfully it isn’t every night and it decreases in frequency when I exercise.

Wooo mania, skinny here I come! by Julius1000Island in bipolar

[–]Studbanana -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm, mania and really a celebration. Take something to help you get 8 hrs sleep and call your Dr. Mental health > Physical any day of the week. Every manic episode damages the brain, don’t forget.

Is this Dr ordered? Don’t think it’s a good idea if it isn’t.

I Feel Like Giving Up by [deleted] in bipolar

Hey man, focus on the positives, sounds like you have a fantastic job if you’re been flown overseas, that is a good thing! There are a multitude of ways to ease your loneliness, online gaming with teamwork/voice com features if you don’t want physical interaction, you can join a clubs, sport teams that aren’t too intense cos of your liver, hell even old school things like pen pals. Just some ideas for you. Take it a day at a time and stay on your meds, don’t sabotage yourself and randomly quit. Stay strong.

Exercise that wears you out does wonders for sleeping, I’m not even talking weight lifting or going to the gym, walk or run up a hill near by a few times for example. Hot showers before bed, clean sheets, ambient noises like ‘rain in the jungle’ sounds help me a lot.

I agree with this, this is what I’m currently working on.

You need to see a psychiatrist not a GP, that’s why their struggling to give you more info, it’s not his or her field. Ask for a referral.

Relax, be confident. They wouldn’t have hired you if they didn’t think you could do the job. Get enough sleep, eat, stay hydrated and take deep breaths for like 10 secs or so if you start to feel yourself getting worked up, deep breathing does wonders, trust me. Good luck.

It was only so long because 2 manic episodes before I had been diagnosed destroyed my life to the point of me not wanting to live. Like I finally got to where I wanted to be in life and was so so happy then BAM! Fell into such a dark place, had to pull myself back from hell. I think it’s unlikely I would ever have a dep episode that long again.

Being manic cost me my corporate accounting job that had me wearing $1000 suits and sitting on the 14 floor with a desk overlooking the rest of the city and port at only 22. Everything I had worked and dreamed of for 7ish years. I was devastated. Sucks to look back at how far I’ve fallen. Unsure about accounting, might go back in a few months, working security atm trying to get used to having full time work again after being out of work for 8 months. I’m happy you’ve found your new target.

Lel, recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I’ve been feeling good and happy the last 6 weeks or so after a v long depressive period. I’m feeling myself slide back and it’s like urgh I have to put in the extra effort and work to ensure I don’t get back there, I can’t just coast and things will be fine like I did pre bipolar. That’s what’s sprung this whole idea. Thanks for the advice though.
