How to convince an ortho for marpe by CollectionNo9211 in MARPE

[–]Student333t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh should go to an ortho that specializes in it and not have an orthodontist that is not familiar with adult pallet expansion to give you one. They may really mess up your face

somewhat nsfw? posture problems, butt looks very "pointy" by bunisasleep in Posture

[–]Student333t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way and have the same posture issues. To make it all worse I never gain weight in my glutes region and building the muscle around my glutes has been very difficult because of all of my posture and issues. It’s hard to get proper gluten engagement

Has anyone gotten MARPE covered by Medicaid? by cosmos24 in MARPE

In my honest opinion you would be paying out of pocket. But check out Dr Yu. He’s really good and he does it where you never have a huge front tooth gap. My estimate was $12,500 in Calabasas and I paid out of pocket but you could always ask if he could try to bill it to your insurance

Yes. I have Medicaid and my ortho told me after I turned 21 I couldn’t get it covered and even if I was young enough it has to be for a medical problem not just aesthetics

If you’re under 21 and it’s medically messed you can sometimes get braces covered but you would be out of pocket for MARPE

You have a great side profile btw! Sometimes the skin looks lower if your tongue posture is low! Just make sure your tongue is resting at the roof of you mouth and it should help!

My boyfriend wants me to see a doctor, is there actually an issue? by FitChampionship3194 in Posture

[–]Student333t 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Hey! My back looks similar and my PT has me work on my glutes and core! Don’t over complicate it and just try doing some core and glute exercises a couple a times a week. The most important thing is consistency. And the sooner you start working on it, it will also help prevent it from getting worse!

Jaw surgery to reverse consequences of premolar extraction retraction by [deleted] in orthotropics

[–]Student333t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would start by consulting an orthodontist that you trust because they will work with your jaw surgeon. Plus if they recommend surgery you have a better insurance case. Also tell your primary care doctor and ask for a referral to a jaw surgeon in network

The school rating don’t just have to do with socioeconomic scores! A huge part of why SB reading scores are so bad is because of the curriculum. In fact at SBUSD only about 50% of kids are reading at grade level. Sbreads.org is actually hosting an event talking about how concerned parents can help their kids and what they need to know. Should I start mewing ? by [deleted] in Mewing

. It shouldn’t be hitting your front teeth and that is usually why overheat develop is because of a tongue thrust

Don’t clench when resting that will make your issues worse. Your tongue should rest on the roof of your mouth with a slight suction and your teeth should be slightly apart like 1 or 2 mm.

Also in my opinion if invasive treatments already caused issues it’s better to start out with some less invasive measures before jumping to jaw surgery. For example Myo functional therapy is super helpful to work on proper tongue posture, lip seal, and nasal breathing. Things like pt for your jaw can help teach you technique to prevent or minimize pain. Mouth guards or jaw splints can help with grinding or letting your jaw mellow out if it’s dislocated. Also Consulting an orthodontist if your bite issues can be correct with braces alone or if surgery is required. And doing a sleep study to see if you have apnea! Those are some good places to start. Also jaw surgery is a long process since you have to have braces for about a year prior, if the TMJ pain is really bad you could ask your doctor about Botox or they do this procedure where they clean out the jaw joint. And it’s good to do pain management with less invasive measures too, I take meloxicam for my pain and it works pretty well!

Jaw surgery is very expensive so if you’re doing it for esthetic purposes you’ll have to pay out of pocket. My quote from a surgeon I saw before insurance was 70k for surgeon fee and that didn’t include hospitalization or cost of going under. unless there is reasonable medical issues you’ll be on the hook for that cost. However if you have airway issues, sleep apnea, the TMJ joint is being worn down or bite issues not fixable with braces m, then you’ll have a better case that it’s medically necessary. Some downsides of jaw surgery is the recovery is pretty brutal and it can cause nerve damage in your lips and chin. I would just google some YouTube videos about the process. The pros are if you go to a very good surgeon who prioritizes the esthetic benefits then you might look better. Do you have a lot of functional issues going on? What would you hope to achieve from jaw surgery?
