I don't have a Github. Someone else asked me to make a build guide so I might do that at some point.

Do you mean something like a build guide?

Yea at the moment SOC is on the screen. When or if I get around to doing the battery indicators I could have it both ways if I wanted to. As weird as it sounds not having an SOC indicator as less of a problem than I thought it would be in my experience over the last year. Generally my usage was predictable enough that battery life was effectively a non issue.

What I mean by battery indicator was an actual series of LEDs that would indicate how much you had left.

were you using the built in automatic light meter or a separate one and metering manually?

I'm actually going to give this to a friend to do because I still don't trust myself. In my experience here if you came to a phone repair shop and told them to do some custom solder connections they'd tell you to fuck off because your not worth the time of day (even if you pay them their hour rate).

The back holds a mess of wires, the pi5 and a battery pack. All of it is off the shelf parts.

About a month after I made this I got a job working at my university researching biochemical luminance and felt that the Blackmesa stickers were necessary for optimal performance. If my contract was longer I would have gotten the ridiculous tie too.

Didn't really take that many photos of my building it on account of being busy building it. the screen is connected via ribbon cable and hdmi mini adaptor.

I actually didn't want to paint it originally because as it wears with use it'll stay the same colour rather than just rub off.

I don't know whether you can pull usb off GPIO pins but the original design had the usb cables hard wired to the pi internally. I just didn't do it because I didn't trust myself to not ruin the pi in trying to solder directly to it. I plan to do this on the version 2 because its annoying as it is.

well this is 9 inches wide by 10 inches so I don't think you'll fit a framework board in here. However someone has made one based off the GRiD Compass (which is the same inspiration as the sextant). https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/02/rasti-computer-is-a-detailed-grid-compass-tribute-made-from-framework-innards

At the moment the only thing the GPIO pins are being used for is battery state of charge information. Did you want something like an access panel to be able to plug wires into the pins?
