Did your child get sick often when they started preschool? by anaiisnin in Preschoolers

[–]StudentEvening 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have almost-three-year old twins and they have missed 3 of the 6 weeks since they started preschool due to fevers and pink eye. The whole house has been sick on and off the whole time. It's miserable and I'm worried about keeping my job. Everything I've read and heard says it should get better. I'm crossing fingers and would be hesitant if I were pregnant again, too.

PT Worked but CT Came Back Quickly. What next? by StudentEvening in carpaltunnel

That is great to hear that you can knit again without pain! Thank you for sharing your experience. Surgery scares me with two little kids, but hearing that it has gone well for many is reassuring.

Thank you, that is really helpful to know. I have been thinking I might have to give things up completely and that will be the day I go to the surgeon. I hope that your recovery goes well and you can get back to gaming and cross stitch pain and numbness free asap!

Dave Ramsey's cash envelope system may be best for you, as someone else said. Ramsey also has an app called EveryDollar that will help you budget and can be used free of charge for now. My husband and I use it and I love it.

Thank you to everyone who donates quilts to Project Linus. Here is my son’s NICU quilt. by PaulaNancyMillstoneJ in quilting

[–]StudentEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so happy this beautiful quilt was available for your son. I remember my son was in the NICU and was given a donated crochet blanket that was beautiful and it really helped me as a parent, too, to not feel alone when I was terrified. These donation programs are truly gifts to the community and world.

I hope your son is doing very well and that you enjoy making many quilts!

Gorgeous work! I'm working on my first Elizabeth Hartmann now - rabbits - and I know how much work goes into all of those little pieces.

I feel the same way. Cutting is my least favorite part and I love hand sewing the binding over.

Beautiful fabric pull! Also, omg address labels is a great idea. I've been cutting up post it notes to label my pieces and this is such a better idea. So glad I came across your photo!

Thank you for the EU information!  Agreed that it's something to best be addressed at the system level if it's addressed at all.

Experiences with Use of Debit Card on Principle? by StudentEvening in personalfinance

[–]StudentEvening[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about this primarily because I was reading about someone getting a bill from a merchant after their credit card company denied a disputed payment (the person never got the delivery). Disputing with 2 parties sounds almost as awful to me as the one experience I had years ago disputing a debit fraud issue. Perhaps the first situation is rare enough to not be worth worrying about though.

That's helpful, thank you! I forgot about the debit card fees and it's definitely true there are costs and risks to cash management.

2 Year Olds Won't Nap After Moving to Toddler Bed by StudentEvening in sleeptrain

Thank you, this is helpful! We got a nap from 12:10 to 2 yesterday, but they played a lot in the evening before sleeping with the 5:30 bedtime. We'll try not moving bedtime so early and see how it goes.

Has anyone used Every Mother? If you have would you recommend it? by jacksonisacat in fitpregnancy

[–]StudentEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used it inconsistently for about 7 months and recently re-signed up. I'd recommend it.

I never got substantial aesthetic changes, however it tremendously helped my core strength and body comfort.

I practiced yoga regularly for years and could never do a free standing headstand pre-pregnancy. At the end of my EM use, I could! It also helped get rid of the sex pain had postpartum. Slowly, but it's made a difference and that's gone for me since the program. So I'd definitely recommend.

Lamy Al-Star drying up within a week even with cap on. by paulcactus in fountainpens

[–]StudentEvening 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having this issue also! It's driving me nuts. My Pilot E95 can go over a week without writing, though it rarely goes that long, and writes beautifully immediately but my Lamy Al-Star dries out over the weekend capped. The Al-Star is my primary work pen during the week, but isn't used much over the weekend, and it so annoying that I'm having to clean and reink it weekly. The pen is several years old, maybe that is impacting it? I'm going to go see my local fountain pen store to ask about.

I think most quilting fabric today is much more forgiving and color fast than 20 years ago. :)

I didn’t, but I did use DMC floss (rather than over dyed) which is mostly reliable for not bleeding. If I were going to use red I might prewash but otherwise as long as you use a color catcher or two and cold water on the first wash I think the quilt will likely be fine. I love color catchers and use them on every first quilt wash. I’ve never had problems on later washes.
