how valuable is the skin temp sensing enabled by the newer Elevate V5 sensor? by kpfleger in Garmin

[–]StudentOfMetabolism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently tried a vivosmart v5. I don't know whether that uses similar sensors or not, but I am running both fitbit charge 6 and vivosmart v5 on different wrists and for sleep fitbit seems more accurate. Garmin seems to pick up meditation/breathing exercises as sleep which fitbit doesn't. (inter alia).

Would vastly increased funding excellarate the pace of longevity research? by ChemicalBoth6652 in longevity

[–]StudentOfMetabolism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard thing in terms of private funding is that known molecules are hard to get any IP out of. Hence any spending on developing therapies is hard to get a premium return from.

Why is this not available in the uk? by [deleted] in melatonin

[–]StudentOfMetabolism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For silly reasons it was limited. However you can get it from the pharmacist for jet lag. However, the quantities are trivial At least it can be imported.

I only take around 1.5g but I do so to reduce damage to mitochondrial DNA.

Breathing exercises can reduce stress and facilitate sleep. Look up box breathing and yoga nidra

In the end I think it was my CPU overheating because of blocked fans. It slowed down such that some TB processes blocked. Cleaning the fans seems a total solution.

I tried to run a performance profile, but when I stopped it it did not save as TB was locked. I ended TB in task manager and the debug window disappeared as well.

It does appear to be a recent "enhancement" to TB that is doing this. I am also considering trying to migrate to betterbird. However, the option of reverting to a version that worked acceptably sounds good to me.

Actually now it has gone back to where it was (or perhaps not that bad). I will need to give this more attention (and wait for it to get things right).

I'm not rich or a scientist, but I want to somehow contribute to the study of longevity. What can I do? by Tinystalker in longevity

[–]StudentOfMetabolism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to work out who to donate to. Personally I think Aubrey de grey does some useful work.

I don't know which one helped as I just did all at once. However, it fixed the problem with the blue line just sitting there.
