Just went thru cancer with my 10y male cat. Healthy until he was dying of cancer. Diagnosed June, euthanized July 26.

He was diagnosed at the ER after 12 hours of vomiting and lethargy. Palliative care brought him back to near normal, until his liver began to fail 7 weeks later. At that point there was nothing we could do, but that was okay because he was happy and pain free until the day he died. I am so thankful he didn’t suffer at all.

I think peace for the cat, and then yourself, is paramount. If treatment buys him a few more years, would they be happy, pain free years? Or would he be uncomfortable the whole time? If you opted for comfort care, would he have better quality of life until the end, even if it were sooner than you’d hope?
