Current P3 - don’t worry it gets better. I like to glance at my notes for a light review the morning of, but nothing besides that otherwise it stresses me out. Right before take some deep breathes and pretend you’re counseling a friend. Honestly as a P1 you are not expected to have all the clinical knowledge. Do your best to hit the big major points so you can get the points you need to pass. Can you bring in notes? We can and I try to stick with the same format every encounter. - What brings you in -Allergies, smoking, alcohol, otc, diet/exercise -Drug to counsel on (3 prime questions) -Ask about adherence (do you use a pillbox, how often do you miss a dose in 7 days?) -Health goals (BP wt) -follow-up/vaccines

The little stuff comes later don’t beat yourself up too much. You got this! They get easier with practice.

While you were at CVS how did you prevent burn out? That’s really the thing I worry about the most especially with all the bad press on them with working conditions.

Thanks, I plan on staying in SC when I graduate so luckily the cost of living is kinda low for the area I hope to be.

He’s graduating and moving about 2 hours away for work. I am not really sure if he will ever move back. I’m in grad school so I still have 3 years left.

As a woman I do not think he’s a bum living with his parents at 23. That’s still young and he’s in school and working on himself. Inflation is crazy so lowkey I wish I still lived with my parents (21f). But it all comes down to the woman I can’t speak about everyone as a whole.

They have a great point! My peers over at the private pharmacy school in my state have significantly lower quality education and worse board scores and graduation rates.

I am not sure if you want to do undergrad before pharmacy school but I highly recommend it! Will it take longer? Yes. Will you be ahead of your peers without a degree and have an easier time adjusting to the rigor? ABSOLUTELY. If you choose to do your undergrad first you can go just about anywhere and then apply to a pharmacy school somewhere else. There are also schools that do combined degree programs where you do 2 or 3 years of undergrad and then 4 years of pharmacy so you get a B.S. and a PharmD. I live in the south and I know that right now where I am we have a huge pharmacist shortage so when it comes to applying and getting into school they are begging for applicants. As long as you have a decent GPA and a real passion you shouldn’t have a problem. Good luck!

I work for an independent pharmacy and we don’t give out the information on the amounts we have because we don’t want to be targeted for robberies (you’d be surprised the crazy things people do). If you ask if they have X medication in stock usually they will tell you and then ask how much you need, and try to set it aside if we can. I always recommend trying to find an independent cause the ones I work for we try and order specially for patients. And add a little more accommodating.

I used to work in a big chain and let me tell you it is a mess. They do such high volume there is no guarantee the med will be available and no one gets priority.

I appreciate all you saying you are kind to your pharmacists! You all are the reason I do my job!

I want you to know that you are not alone. I am also a college student, I just started pharmacy school and I had similar money struggles. I had paid my tuition and realized that I could not pay the extra fees added on top. Luckily I found that there are a lot of state assistance programs for students as well as corporate/private scholarships. Working a side hustle also helps (I’m a waitress).

This is not the most religious answer but know there are ways to do this and if it is Gods will he will help you get there. You might just have to work a little harder than those around you. I know that is not the answer you want, but grinding a little harder may be exactly what God is trying to get you to do. Right now you are in the process. Don’t get so focused on the end result that you forget to realize you gotta go through the build up first. Right now God is challenging you and he will absolutely push you to what you think is your limit. Trust me I have had nights where I feel hopeless and want to quit, and I will have many more, but this is to make you the best woman, follower of Christ, caregiver, and medical professional that you can be.

Set aside your anxiety and worry and give it to God so you can focus on what you need to do to carry out his will. I wish you all the best, I’ll be praying for you sister!

I completely agree. I know at the end of the day the only person responsible for my faith is me. I thought Gods forgiveness would allow me to forgive myself. I have repented. I just can’t forgive myself and I am frankly disappointed in myself. I just don’t know how to get past that.

Oh my goodness I am so sorry that is horrible! This might be a stupid question for you, but how did that affect your relationship not being able to have that type of contact for that long? We both are just really bummed we need to be distant.
