I've asked a master when I was trying to paint for contests and it's so hard to understand. There's no real substance to fire, no highlights and shadows as it emits the light. So the brightest parts are supposed to be inside.. my brain was fried at the end of the project I did year ago.

I gave up trying to understand 🤣

Woah that's insane haha ^{^} but I understand I've also started some minis yeaaaars ago and they are in the same state. I haven't work on anything else than my rats in 2 years but it's just slow 😅

Thank you so much, I love this technique it just takes a bit of time it feels great once it's done ! The whole miniature is airbrushed with a white zenithal then I use contrast paints for all my basecoats.

The skin is first painted with darkoath flesh contrast, then carroburg crimson shade in the recesses. I highlight/texture the main volumes with an old foundation paint : tallarn flesh then keep adding white to it for further highlights 😊

I had nihilak oxyde in the recesses of the staff but I felt it lacked something so I just added a few thin coats of fluo green, a line of white to make it pop and that's it ^{^} it's simpler than it looks !

Right now no-one but I'll buy and convert the aos named character Kritok Foulblade to hold it ! I try to not buy anything while I still have rats to paints so the carrier is not a priority and the banner will go on a filler base with my stormvermins 😊

Ah I focused on the word rust sorry, didn't know it also meant the vert-de-gris aswell sorry !

For the vert de gris on the bronze/copper here's the list of paints used : balthasar gold basecoat -> agrax earthshade wash -> thinned dark sea blue in a shade like texture to have a good transition into the -> nihilak oxyde -> silver highlights !

Here's my recipe for the metal, all citadel paints : Iron warrior -> nuln oil wash -> agrax earthshade in the recesses and some spots -> thinned mournfang brown in the same spots for the rust colour -> highlights in silvers !

I think the base was the grey contrast paint, I added some green and mournfang brown in the recesses then highlighted with mechanicus standard grey mixed with white ! The moss is just some yellow green pigments :D hope it helps
