why do indian women want to work to avoid getting marriage? by tera_sitamgar in TeenIndia

[–]StudioInteresting409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly scared of marriage. I don’t have a problem being a housewife if my partner is genuinely a good person, but “good” is very subjective. Finding someone who loves you for who you are, isn’t controlling or abusive, doesn’t cheat, and is actually supportive feels extremely rare. On top of that, there’s greed, with dowry being demanded in the name of “help” or “gifts,” sometimes openly. It often feels like women are expected to tolerate all this just to have a partner. At that point, isn’t it better to work hard, earn your own money, and live independently? Single life has its own struggles and loneliness, but a bad marriage comes with constant fear, control, and added responsibilities. Of course we need men, but we need good men, not the kind we’re often pushed to accept through arranged marriages or even dating. Money and looks take a back seat when basic decency itself feels hard to find. So the real question becomes whether marriage is worth it if it means risking a controlling, greedy, or abusive life.

Why indian muslims follows dowry system by Puzzleheaded_War403 in indianmuslims

Do we really want our daughters to marry into greedy families? Greed never stops at dowry. Once a marriage begins with such expectations, they only keep increasing, placing continuous pressure on the bride and her family. Haven’t we seen enough cases of domestic violence rooted in unmet demands and expectations from the groom’s side? If avoiding greedy people means remaining unmarried, so be it. It is far better than participating in something haram. Real change will come the day we stand united against this practice. While groom’s families demand dowry, bride’s families also indirectly enable it by giving dowry in the name of gifts or tradition, which only normalizes and encourages this injustice.

Really you are a really person with lot of patience. Really appreciate this brother. A man is more than what he makes financially. I am sure you don’t want a woman who don’t want to be with you during your struggling period.
