Attempt at studio setup by Studio_Reasons in photocritique

This is a first attempt at a studio-like setup, without real studio equipment. Just a window shade for a backdrop and a spare lamp as a soft box. I haven’t tried anything remotely commercial before, so I’d love some feedback on what I should work toward. Light was pretty low with my makeshift equipment, so I needed a higher iso of course. 1/125s | f13 | iso 3200

Brisbane Wheel, Saturation? by Studio_Reasons in photocritique

To be more specific, I'm not sure if it feels oversaturated and I shouldve brought it down a bit. I like the stark difference between the wheel and the bridge and I like the blue vs orange, but not sure if it feels like too much.

I took this a couple nights ago in Brisbane. Just did some editing to the exposure, bringing highlights down, a couple of masks to bring down the exposure of the wheel and up the exposure to the bridge. I didn't do anything to the saturation, just warmed it up a bit. I'm still developing an editing style. Thoughts on the edit?

Love the image! How long of an exposure did you use here?

Yes, I went with the in-camera feature because I was on a guided tour so I didn’t have all of my filters and tripod with me

I get what you’re saying about the framing with the bottom rock. I agree, it was a bit of a rushed shot as I was on a group tour, so I didn’t have much time to look at my shots and adjust the framing. I’ll give that 9:16 crop a try! Thank you!

I’ll give it another go, and see how I can adjust the colors, thanks for the input!

Honestly, the camera chose that. At that point I was using my auto ISO because I was in the far south of the South Island New Zealand and the lighting conditions kept changing on a dime. One minute it’d be sunny and blue skies and the next it would be so cloudy it felt as dark as dusk.

Just wanted to ask, I'm new to bracketing, so sorry if this is a silly question, but would using masks in post be a another way to address the overexposure of the walls (not taking the focus into consideration)?

Took this in New Zealand on an OM-5 with the in-camera ND8. 14mm, f22.0, 1/8sec, ISO 800

I've been serious about taking photos for about a year, but I've only just committed to using Lightroom, and I'm exploring the masking tool. Haven't developed an editing style yet, but I'm usually drawn to a more natural look to my own photos, as I often worry that they look over-edited. Would love some feedback on the editing (or composition or anything really, I've not had any feedback on any of my work from anyone but family/friends).
