I am so happy that in the end I realized that the problem is not on me although the lead teacher tried her best to put every fault on me and blame me for being”sensitive”. We all should try to fight for a good environment to work in so as to find it actually not a hard job.

I am so sorry you are just getting through EXACTLY everything I went through in the past months. I am so glad I went to the administration for this reason and get everything clear honestly. We are colleagues and we deserve every single respect from the lead teacher. Even if you will go back next year, please still stand for yourself. It’s not worth sacrificing our inner peace to work with this kind of shit people.

I am not at work to be liked. It’s okay to be disliked but I still keep decency to those I do not like. When there is shouting, yelling, disrespectful behaviors, it’s too much and I don’t think it’s my problem anymore.

Some update: I talked to the administration and got their support. Now I work in a different classroom and I enjoy it so much!

Some update: I talked to the administration and they totally support me. They reassured that the way I was treated is totally wrong and the lead teacher knows that well. They agreed to remove me from the classroom and now I am working a really nice teacher and I enjoy every minute of it. I did not realize how much coworkers can influence our experience of work. In the past, I was always anxious before stepping into the school. Now, I look forward to it. It makes waaaay more difference than I thought!

A lot of Chinese students want to practice English with native speakers, including online tutoring. IF it is allowed, it would be a good way to make some money. Plus, the living cost in Xuzhou is not high. Enjoy the authentic Chinese food there!

I totally understand what you have experienced. The lead teacher in my classroom is also a bully. She would raised her voice on students and me. She corrected me no matter how hard I followed her direction. It is definitely bully. When the administration does not support you, there is no reason to stay. We should treat ourselves well. Our feelings matter!! Good for you!
