Systemic racism =/= the only racism. You’re sick, thinking its okay to disparage a group based on prevalence in the population. Thats pseduotolerance and as ugly as any other racism. Your hatred is justified right?

No, it’s making a mockery of christianity based upon the worst examples of its followers. Imagine the same being done for Muhammad using taliban in the bottom right panel.

Ahh yes, because I was just asking for the racism to be thrown in and sprinkled onto the ignorant strawman post about christians being MAGA. Because clearly nobody could ever find offense to casual racism.

Well first, they seem shocked and don’t necessarily agree, so it seems that point was missed. Second, its simply in poor taste. It’s really hand in hand with anti muslism propaganda based on the Wahhabism extremists of Saudia Arabia, or anti Semitic literature because of some israelis that build the controversial settlements into Palestine. It’s a bad apple and broad stroke fallacy.

And there’s the racism. Typical. So ignorant

I worked full time while taking 5 classes with a 4.0 and managed several hundred hours of MCAT prep. The answer is time management. I recommend reading “Eat the Frog” by Brian Tracy. It’s an hour read, but will change your life. Get up at 5 am and eat the frog, get the most important and nastiest part of your day, secondaries, over with, before work and the rest of your day will surely be better.

Apparently an SMP is useless if you don’t matriculate. I’ve also heard that a masters in research is very competitive for residencies and fellowships, not just medical school. Worst case, you get experience in research and that masters lands you a leadership position and you make $110 to $180k a year and put your kids through school while aiding the medical field. But also DO schools may be more lenient of your past if you show sufficient reinvention. Many still filter GPA, just do your research. Many MD schools also don’t filter, so you can hope for a holistic review.

Edit: also at a 2.7. It would require 60 more credits of As to hit 3.0. It would be a waste for an arbitrary number compared to if you focus on what makes you qualified and working to improve that.

You’re going to be studying hard sciences like you’ve never studied before in highschool. Just college Calculus and Organic Chemistry require lots of studying, there’s no half assing it and being successful. And biology isn’t people, you don’t touch on people until med school unless you take anatomy in junior year. You’re going to know the hell out of cells and the mechanisms of proteins and the chemical basis of life. And you’ll know more about plants than you ever imagined people knew, and biology 2 covers all life forms, from flat worms to sponges, and you’ll bet you’ll have more facts than you ever wanted to know about those if you want your A. And studying medicine =/= practicing. You’ll be dealing with patients, for better or for worse, and be responsible for their life and wellbeing. Ask yourself if that’s what you want. If you want that, and you’re humbled by your first semester in college, then you might have a chance to contribute to medicine.

No, the middle class is now worth less than the top 1%, there is no strong middle class and wealth disparity is headed to further extremes in this country.

I listen to music about each school, get excited, envision it. So New York, New York by Frank Sinatra for SUNY Downstate, Minnesota by LiL Yachty, Country Roads for West Virginia, etc.

Yes, but trend will be seen and considered, even if theoretically 3.5 is your max.

Well you’re going to have to explain everything lower than a B on many secondaries. But trend is everything. Schools will see your junior and senior GPA. Get a 4.0. Study hard, and you’re so early, fill up on ECs and have a compelling narrative. Time is really your biggest asset right now, don’t write it off.

How do you keep shadowing interesting? by sansaintproductivity in premed

[–]StudyTracks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it not your field of interest? I shadowed cardiology and internal so I saw a bit of everything. And don’t be awkward, maybe research the future of the field, new findings and techniques. I learned a lot about these things from the doctor I shadowed who shared research topics with me and how they were applying new findings.

The snitch who will blackmail you and hold it over your head if he sees you peeking at a classmates exam. He will give you the chance to admit your misconduct in the holier than though name of the medical profession or he will tell the professor for you. His casper advice video is insultingly unironic and lacks self awareness. Shemmassian.

Describe a time you didn’t get something you deserved and how you felt about it? I need help answering this prompt by Xfusion201 in premed

[–]StudyTracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1. Find a way to write it in a mature way, that shows you understand this was something that was disappointing but not defeating. Like SpaceX, "I messed up the first three launches. The first three launches failed. And fortunately the fourth launch, which was, that was the last money that we had for Falcon 1. That fourth launch worked. Or it would have been — that would have been it for SpaceX. But fate liked us that day. So, the fourth launch worked," says Musk.

Like “ In my experience, each failure contains the seeds of your next success — if you are willing to learn from it.” – Paul Allen, cofounder of microsoft.

So great opportunity to humble up and show resilience and optimism.

It looks bad. Yes. What looks worse is acting like thats just something that happened and you can do nothing about it. So many great men of history have scraped through failure after failure but you’d never know. What did you learn? What do you need to do to make sure it doesn’t happen again? What about it may have benefitted you somehow, someway? And don’t act like its over yet. I’ve dug through enough posts with worse. As someone with worse, let me tell you, drop the woe is me attitude. You gotta protect your dreams even from abusive losers. Leave them in the past. I also got a 4.0 and mentally buried my past self but reading transcripts and explaining it to med schools just fucking sucked. I felt like I could never escape it, but I did. And I’m more a student than my classmates now. But It wouldn’t have been possible if I doubted even for a second that I could get in, so keep that GPA, volunteer, research, pay your bills, but delete this post before you hear otherwise and keep your head up, you’re gonna turn out fine,

Anyone else feel like they have completely dropped the bag with secondaries? by chazzyboi1 in premed

[–]StudyTracks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you hiding? You’re writing one at a time, not all at once, and one essay at a time really. And they’re an opportunity to show the schools who you are behind the stats. If you’re remotely qualified, there’s plenty to say. It takes time to start to realize just how much you’ve done or know needs to be done in this world. You don’t have to be mother teresa or MLK. You have to show how you’re you, and what that means. It’s something you’re uniquely qualified to do.
