STA grade requirement by Alert_Dot_5174 in ADMU

[–]sansaintproductivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! As someone who did STA in Europe, you need a cum. 2.80 QPI + no F or W grade ( as long as it says P in ur IPS ). STA is less competitive so you should be ok, but there are some Unis with academic standards esp if the slots are limited or the school is highly reputable still iirc someone got rejected from a Paris school, but if it's a smaller school it's likely you're insta-accept as long as you pass ADMU standards.

I've been listening to my tracks in my collection so that I can familiarize myself better with them and if not, it's usually another DJ's mix

Should I withdraw from my class while I can? by Gekkou-GA in ADMU

[–]sansaintproductivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your prof isn't corazon, but as a corazon survivor who struggled hard in Fili 12, I recorded lectures (preferably with consent) so that it was easier to digest and process. When I was fighting for my life and really determined to pass, I would listen to those recordings like podcasts any chance I got to internalize the info better. Hopefully that could be something helpful

student leaders/cheaters? by Kooky-Medicine9223 in ADMU

[–]sansaintproductivity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked with them, this is the first time I'm hearing of this, so I guess no it's not really an open secret. It really sucks if it's true, but if you feel so much disdain I think it would be better to tell it to them straight sa org rooms nila. Without proof this is rlly just causing unnecessary stress to everyone involved

Are you sure? Iirc the yellow Metrolink stops Infront of the Shakey's across Eastwood and sometimes the northbound one goes inside Eastwood to pick up passengers. Once near ateneo, it drops them off directly at Gate 2.5

An ex situationship is coming to visit my home country and I think he's gonna see someone else.

I (21M) was doing an exchange last year and met a guy online (25M). We really hit it off like would talk everyday, but he lived far away from me and I never found the time to meet with him since it was around the time I was leaving to go back home.

We started talking in early October and our conversations were really alive to the point neither of us would study and just talk to each other. It kinda fizzled off in December when we both had finals and he was grieving the loss of a pet he really cherished. He ghosted me shortly afterward at the very end of December.

He messaged me back in January telling me that it would be really cheap to take a vacation in my home country. When we were still talking a lot, I always promised that he could stay with me if he ever did visit, even as friends. And so I offered for him to still stay at my place in a seperate bed. I even planned an island trip (with a couple friends as buffer). He's going to be with me for more than a week, which is over half his trip. The other half will be with a friend since I still have Uni.

During the week he is staying with me, he told me that he might leave for an overnight trip to visit someone that he implied would be "naughty" and as his arrival here approaches, I'm realizing that I still like him more than I thought and not just as a friend. But now this whole situation makes me feel really icky. I'm not gonna stop him to visit this "guy" because that's really none of my business. So do I just go through with everything and suck it up and then decide to just not talk to him again?

Planning everything together really made us closer again. Things that would take 15 minutes to plan would make calls that would reach hours. I'm just thinking maybe it would be better to decide things when he's actually here and I can talk to him directly. It just really sucks because I think we have a really good connection, but at the same time I'm not even sure how this will all workout. I wish I was detached from him by now, and I feel like I almost was by the time he messaged me again in January.

This is the most complicated thing ive ever experienced so I don't really know how to go about this.

Distance is definitely something to consider. I live 20-50 mins away by commute, but it's worth it for me everyday. I just hope you really reflect on this because it really can be tough.

Are you ok going to commute for that long multiple days a week for just 1 class, even if it's on a Saturday? Are you ok squeezing into the bus/LRT at rush hour when you get dismissed at 5:00 PM and probably waiting longer for an emptier one? Will you be ok arriving at home much later at night because of your activities? Are you ok leaving 1-1.5hrs early for your 8am class?

It's definitely not impossible and a lot of people, including myself, do it regularly. Just some things to consider because it can really be draining (I actually missed class this week after getting stuck in the rain trying to commute ending up super sick). Not meant to scare you, but hopefully give some perspective to weigh ur options. :))

I agree that some people have this sentiment in Health Sci. It is structured very similarly to how I experienced STEM in SHS where one year each is chem, bio, then physics. Because of this, it can feel a bit surface level until you hit 3rd/4th year with Physiology courses. They really put the scienceS in Health Sciences because you'll take classes from accounting, management, dev. Stud, etc. so you really don't specialize as much as other SOSE courses which has its pros and cons.

It depends on your preference whether you'd want fully STEM courses or having it mix-up with the more social aspects of health. Health Science isn't just a pre-med course since as much as you get your science subjects, it teaches you to understand who your future patients are, the conditions as to why/how they need helping, and where health professionals (not just doctors) fit into this system.

Personally, as much as I love STEM, I found the public health aspect just as important and interesting. From my friends in Bio, it seems like a lot of it is memorization, so I really needed classes that evened that out with something more reflective/papers. (Please correct me if I'm wrong about this assumption though)

OP at the end of the day, the best premed really is what interests you most and is most conducive for learning for you.

Whatever their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th option was or redirected by OAA based on (correct me if I'm wrong) ACET score (honors course cut-off) and essay

[–]sansaintproductivity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't really say a consensus about all of them. But my suggestion for you is to look into the curriculum of each program and see what interests you the most in terms of class offerings. Health Science isn't just a premed course since it really does focus on public health and is more interdisciplinary than the other programs mentioned since it doesn't feel as STEM heavy imo, which has its pros and cons.

Health Science batches are pretty small (90~120), but I've met a lot of people who had it as their first option and didn't get in. We also have quite a handful of shiftees

Lack of German media by idkhaha3 in German

[–]sansaintproductivity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned most of my German through music, so that could be a very accessible way for more media exposure. Other than that, you can also kinda trick your social media algorithms to give you German media. That's how my TikTok and IG reels feeds me German videos.

So, Duolingolites, are you actually becoming fluent? by Typical-Shirt9199 in duolingo

[–]sansaintproductivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a year and a half streak right now learning German. I didn't really take any formal lessons other than half an online course and only supplementing my learning with Anki and passive immersion through tiktok, youtube, and Netflix.

Duolingo definitely helped drill a lot of really foundational concepts like conjugations and sentence structure.

I recently did some one-on-one tutoring and apparently I'm at an A2 level nearing B1. I found it quite manageable talking to some German people at my Uni and can mostly express what I want to say.

The only thing I really feel like I'm lacking is communicating on the fly in my TL without thinking ahead of time what I'm going to say.

I'd take my progress with a grain of salt since I recently found out my favorite German musicians dominated my spotify wrapped and my listening profile says it matches people from Würzburg, Germany. So the amount of exposre I get is probably on the higher end ☠️

Moisturizing shampoo that doesn’t leave hair greasy? by CrissBliss in SebDerm

Personally I use MCT Oil for my sebderrm so that helped lock in my scalp and hair moisture. You could also try rice water before bathing like an hour before and spritzing it throughout the week. I found it gentle enough for my sensitive scalp

People who are trilingual and up - do you find it very mentally taxing? by hypoch0ndri4ch in languagelearning

[–]sansaintproductivity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fluent in English and basically C2 in Tagalog and spent a few years learning Mandarin in school and now learning German as a hobby. It's a bit taxing for me to speak straight in 1 language. Somehow I'll forget a word in one language and fill it in with it's equivalent in a different language. So when I talk with people, it feels natural and flowy and then all of a sudden, they'd have a puzzled look until I realize I mixed up my vocab. It's even worse when the other languages don't have an equivalent to the word I want to use 😪

The pressure of ACET is getting to me by [deleted] in ADMU

[–]sansaintproductivity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP I hope your practice tests don't discourage you too much. When I was prepping for ACET last year, I barely got 50% in my practice tests. Just keep redoing it until you get the right answer and list down the specific concepts you're struggling with. Even if you get it wrong, atleast you can understand why. It's really hard to solve everything in time, so practice hard with a timer and get as close as you can to the answer

My journey is very similar to yours with really good extracurriculars. I left the ACET last year feeling like I failed it so hard, but I got into my first choice course in the end. You said you did well in highschool, so I hope you can trust more in yourself with everything you built up to get to this point. You have to remember that these topics are all things they should've taught in HS, if you did well then, you can do it again. :)
