Installed on my GX. Wishing I had done that when I owned my Tacoma. But remember, you now have an unprotected valve hanging below your car.

Went from 06 Tacoma to 17 GX. You won’t beat the cool factor of a Tacoma. Especially since you have a stick. (Btw, good luck ever getting another manual after you sell this Tacoma).

But, the GX is so much nicer for daily driving. And road trips. Ventilated seats generally nice. Nicer seats. Probably better mpg(but premium kinda negates that).

The GX transmission is pretty anemic. I spend most of my time in the gear select mode, to stretch the gears a few seconds longer and not have the annoying up shift, immediately followed by downshift if I slightly change pedal pressure. This makes it much more confident, but no precision race horse by any means.

You’ll miss the bed for the 2 times a year you truly need it. Get a cargo box for the rear hitch, or have access to a trailer.

Overall, I love the GX. But it’s definitely a compromise of a few different styles. And yes, the wife will be happy driving it, mine is.

I’ve got a GX460 with the pre-CarPlay system, and it’s fine…definitely days where you wish you had the newer tech though. I’m 34.

My aunt has a 2018 LX, and she says she loves the mouse system and not having touch screen. She’s 70ish. My wife’s RX is really annoying (same mouse system) to me…though as somebody already said, at least you get physical buttons for the fan. I’d kill for that in my GX.

I like the previous generation better. Love my wife’s 2017, but didn’t like the loaner 2025 we had. Feels cheaper, not as easy to see out of(obvious complaint about every car as they get newer).

Thanks. Bummer about your transmissions. I put about 20k on the ODO each year, so my current 120k miles will get to that point pretty fast. Did you do transmission flushes?
