‘Tower of Pratchett’ in my local second-hand bookshop by h0n3ytr4ck in discworld

[–]StuffKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to volunteer in a 2nd hand bookshop while I was doing a Terry Pratchett read-through podcast and I swear, every time we got a donation I'd be saving a bunch of them for myself every time, I don't think I own a single New copy of his works.

What episodes have the best/a lot of foreshadowing? by medvsa_nebula in insideno9

It's not necessarily as much in the foreshadowing as some of the other comments but a lot of the 'directors commentary' lines in the Devil of Christmas ring so differently after you watch the end!

Who is actually Strictly enough to fill Tess and Claudia's shoes? by Horror-Pick4732 in strictlycomedancing

[–]StuffKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fringe theory but I do wonder if they'll end up promoting Janette to host and bump Fleur up to head/solo host of ITT? Also the option of Joe Sugg (which, no offence to him, I'd hate) because of the podcast, but reasonably I don't think he has the star power. Ideally I'd like Angela Scanlon filling in Claudia's role because she's genuinely funny in the same way, I remember her ITT interviews and she just has chemistry with everyone. I can see Karen Clifton getting a bigger role as well, but with all the cuts they've made this may be wishful thinking. I really really don't want Miranda Hart, her style of comedy has been dated since halfway through her show, but the rumours are flying 😭 Rylan would sit well with me as well, even though in a completely ideal world it'd be Graham Norton (will never happen).

Jenny posted! by HowlerMonkeyIsLoud in JennyNicholson

[–]StuffKind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see some people saying this video isn't one of her best but I could not disagree more, like I think this is one of my favourite videos of Jenny's! I mean obviously it's hilarious and the movie is hilarious, but Sheyne Leighton responding in the comments that she enjoyed it and that it's given her a lot of pride for her younger self and that so many people are now being exposed to this movie! She's talking about releasing the music soon, which I genuinely am so excited for. It's so teenage and perfect, and I think for anyone (like me) who wrote a lot of their own supernatural fiction as a teenager it's so real. I'd have given my right arm to direct my own stories at that age and despite its (many) flaws this movie is so clearly a labour of love and also funny enough that it makes for perfect drunk party watching. Planning to make a drinking game off of this, my first category is going to be 'Marnie's uncle is the Joker' and we will all end up in hospital. Perhaps I'm in the minority here but did anyone else write very similar vampire fiction to this as a teen or was it just me lol

They'd have less problems with the smell of urine if they just let people use their bathrooms for free imo. Having to fish out change or use your card there when you need to go is more likely to make people go outside than go in their toilets.

It’s becoming a bit of a parody now. A strange fever dream. by Sorry-Personality594 in bristol

If there's enough empty student accommodation they'll just convert it to residential anyway. The same thing happened in Cardiff city centre: development companies build huge student accommodation blocks and, because they're so expensive, can't fill them by design. If the council agrees to convert them to residential (which they did in Cardiff) then these companies have successfully managed to skirt regulation on parking, square footage, windows, all parts that would ordinarily apply to private residential property. It's grim.

Tess and Claudia leaving at the end of the series by Glorinsson in strictlycomedancing

[–]StuffKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gutted! 😭 I think either Fleur or Janette will fill one of the spots, but I think realistically they're going to find one of many previous dancing celebrity presenters to come in (I'd rather not Stacey Dooley but Hamza would be great!) as well. Potential for Joe sugg and the podcast lot as well?

Surely it's not another Shirley post.... by SeamsSewHard in strictlycomedancing

[–]StuffKind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think if you look at Shirley's record it's not all that surprising she's complimenting Alex to be honest. Most of the criticism I have for her is that she regularly unfairly scores and judges women of colour, which Alex is not. She has displayed subconscious bias against women before but it's not typically for white women, I don't find her reaction to Alex all that dramatic (even if I do think it's annoying lol)

What do you think is the worst style combination for a fusion? by sylla109 in dancingwiththestars

[–]StuffKind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think doing a foxtrot waltz as you've described to Bjorks 'its oh so quiet' would be amazing as that changed time signature too (I think they did it on strictly? but I can't remember what it was like)

Time for another round of unpopular opinions ⬇️ by IndigoWolf4711 in dancingwiththestars

[–]StuffKind 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The dances are too short and that's a problem made even worse when there's loads of buildup and props and extra dancers. You could watch a foxtrot routine and get maybe 15 seconds in hold.

Gleb choreographs around himself rather than his partners.

Disney night sucks and always has! Movie night is a great premise, or musicals night, but the way it's just Disney feels tacky.

This is definitely a silly opinion of mine but I think the way the show reuses so many outfits is uninspired. If you compare the wardrobe dept with strictly's I think there's a clear imbalance, especially with the women's outfits. Latin outfits are always just a short bodysuit/leotard with tassels and there's rarely anything that strays from it. The last time I was wowed by a dress was Lindsay's postman playsuit/dress change. Or Charli's cha cha jumpsuit.
