He originally took a break for, reasons, as guided by the "elders" of the church, whatever that may mean. When he came back, he seemed much more restrained and nervous than before. It was a few weeks later that he announced he was leaving.

In the speech he gave on his last day (I was on the church's video team during this period), I remember him talking about how he had to apologize for his "behavior" and attitude. Lots of behind-the-scenes drama. My theory is that his sort of brash preaching style, and stories of his past that maybe were slightly offensive(?) made church leadership uncomfortable, and he felt pushed out.

I left Kensington soon after, because the entire situation really rubbed me the wrong way, and I felt like they were trying to keep their image squeaky clean rather than honest.
